Self-respecting people will never put up with these 8 behaviors

Self-respect isn’t something you win at a quiz show, nor it’s something you gain overnight.

Self-respect is a powerful personal quality that helps you keep the balance with all of your relationships, even the one with yourself. It represents the act of accepting yourself for who you are while working hard on becoming a better version of yourself every single day.

Having self-respect comes hand in hand with acknowledging your self-worth and being straightforward with the ones around you. It means never allowing yourself to put up with things like ignorance, apathy, and negligence.

Are you a self-respecting person?

Here are 8 behaviors self-respecting people will never tolerate.

1. Trying to be one of the many.

Altering yourself to fit in amongst people who wouldn’t appreciate you for who you are is totally the opposite of being a self-respecting person. If you have a tiny little bit of self-love left in you, don’t be the one who follows the crowd. Be the one who follows their heart. Your personal growth depends on you. If you want to thrive while doing the things you actually enjoy, fitting in shouldn’t be amongst your priorities.

2. Being a people-pleaser.

You can’t make everyone happy. Read that again! If you consider yourself a self-respecting individual, stop trying to please your friends, family, colleagues, partner. At the end of the day, no matter what you do, there is always going to be someone who would judge you. So, instead of going out of your way to make sure the people around you are satisfied, focus on your own happiness.

3. Working at a job that sucks the life out of you.

We all need to pay our bills and have food on our table, but self-respecting people know that being stuck at a job you hate is never the answer. They are always searching for that one thing that will make them feel fulfilled. And even if the search is challenging, they never stop seeking until they find a job that not only pays their bills but also makes their soul shine.

4. Refusing to leave your comfort zone.

Staying at the same place for too long will get you nowhere. Sure, it’s quite comfortable to do the very same thing over and over again, not having to bother your mind with learning anything new. However, this stagnant lifestyle won’t help you at all with achieving your goals. So, as a self-respecting person, you should never be hesitant to step out of your comfort zone and explore new opportunities. It might be a little scary, but it will definitely help you grow.

5. Being lazy.

While some people claim that procrastination can be helpful, in general, it could fail you miserably. Delaying your important tasks for tomorrow doesn’t make you productive – it makes you lazy. If you are truly determined to work hard on accomplishing your dreams, you should stop dodging your responsibilities.

6. Being negligent with your health.

Every single person wants to be happy, successful, and satisfied with their life. But if you continuously ignore your mental and physical health, how can you be any of those things? Self-respecting people know that it all starts within, so they take special care of their personal wellbeing.

7. Giving in to despair.

If you are pessimistic about life, you would probably never be satisfied with the accomplishments you achieve. No matter how hard you work or how much energy you invest, you would always feel as if something is missing. But if you are someone who looks on the bright side and loves life, you probably know that having a negative mindset wouldn’t get you as far as you can dream of. No matter how challenging life can be, there is always hope for a better tomorrow. Never forget that.

8. Staying in an unhealthy relationship.

Leaving a toxic partner can be incredibly hard. However, staying with them often means losing yourself. You should respect yourself enough to know that you should never let anyone manipulate you. Even if you love someone with all of your heart, if they are toxic, abusive, or controlling, you should find the strength within you to let go.
