Almost all relationships are difficult and painful.
Unlike a serious and committed relationship, an almost relationship will often leave you feeling lost and confused. This type of relationship will make you feel ecstatic one day and then heartbroken the next as you never know where you stand. Often, people find themselves in almost relationships when one person does not want to commit. Unfortunately, this means that the other is left waiting and hoping that they will eventually change their mind.
Such a relationship is often built on lies and empty promises.
Sooner or later, however, they will get tired of waiting. When this happens, the lies and empty promises will begin. Unwilling to lose this person who loves and cares for them, the one afraid of commitment will do anything to persuade them not to leave. More often than not, this means that they will make promises that they do not intend to keep. In other words, they will continue leading them on and making them wait. Not surprisingly, being in an almost relationship with someone who constantly leads you on can have negative effects on your mental and emotional wellbeing. That is, it can leave you feeling worthless as you struggle to understand why this person does not want to commit.
A painful, ugly truth will always be better than a comforting, beautiful lie.
Undoubtedly, being rejected by someone you love is heartbreaking and gut-wrenching. However, it is better to know and accept the truth, grieve for as long as you need, and move on to something better. Otherwise, you are forced to waste years of your life waiting for and chasing after someone who does not want to be with you. For this reason, no matter how painful it may be, rejection will always be better than an empty promise.
At the end of the day, everybody deserves to feel loved and wanted.
