As tragic as that is, this picture hits me because you are literally seeing the moment when a hero’s heart is breaking. ER doctors have what I would consider to be one of the hardest jobs on the planet. They hold life in their hands every single day, and as fleeting as life can be, sometimes those lives slip through their hands like grains of sand. It’s easy for us to forget what these men and women go through every day.
Seeing the cracks in their armor makes them human. These warriors fight for the lives of strangers like the bravest of soldiers, and in moments like this one, even the bravest of them falls.
