Understand that there is nothing wrong with being alone.
Many people find it difficult to stay single. They look around and see that everybody else has someone special. When they go outside, it is as though the only thing they can see is couples. Suddenly, it seems like every single one of their friends has also gotten into a happy and loving relationship. “Why am I the only one who is still alone?” they begin to ask themselves. After some time, they start to believe that there is something wrong with them. This thought takes over and it begins to control them.
You need to focus on your happiness, not your relationship status.
The fear of being alone drives people to settle for less than they deserve. While being in a relationship can indeed be sweeter than being alone, it is only so if you are with the right person. Remember that it is better to be alone and single than to be in a relationship with someone who makes you unhappy. Life is too short for you to waste your time being in a loveless relationship solely because you are afraid of being on your own.
When you spend time alone, you find out who you are and what you want.
If you give yourself the chance to be alone, you will discover that it is not frightening at all. In fact, you grow to love it. Being single gives you the chance to understand what you want, what makes you happy, and where you want to be in life. When you figure out exactly who you are, you will see what type of person you need to have by your side. In other words, you will stop settling for people who do not respect your boundaries. Moreover, you will stop forgiving things out of fear that you will be alone. You will take your deal breakers seriously and you will not settle for less than you deserve. Eventually, the right person will come along and make you happier than you have ever been.
It is only through being alone that you can understand who you are and what you are worth. When this happens, you will not feel comfortable settling for just anyone. Instead, you will wait for the one who will treat you with the respect, love, and care that you know you deserve.
