4 Vital reasons you should learn the art of saying NO

NO isn’t just a word, it is a whole sentence in itself.

Although the word is considered to be negative in most cases, saying it in many situations is crucial for your own well-being.

Being able to say no means that you are a person who knows their worth and is not afraid to go after their needs and desires. If you keep on saying “yes” to everything, it will be easy for others to take advantage of you.

Saying no, lets you take fate into your own hands by showing people that you are unafraid.

But why should you master the art of saying No?

1. You don’t owe anything to anybody

You don’t have an obligation to do something for others against your own wish. Maybe your employer pays you to do a certain job, but you have no obligation to do be at their disposal 24/7.

You may love your partner very much, but you are not their property.

Sure, your parents raised you and still love you dearly, but you shouldn’t bend your beliefs to fit theirs.

2. ‘No’ sets boundaries

People need healthy boundaries. When you constantly say “Yes” those boundaries become blurred. People will start assuming that nothing is off-limits with you. Being a “Yes” person puts in a strong disadvantage because it is easy for others to make you do whatever they ask for.

A sincere “No” shields you from having others climb on your back without permission. It isn’t your job to make others feel validated at all times. Having no in your arsenal of word weapons will empower you to honor your boundaries.

3. You cannot control what others think of you

No matter what you do, whatever you say, many people in your life will judge you unfairly and without consideration. But don’t let this bring you down.

If you are basing your decision on whether to accept or say no to something on what people will say about you, stop now. It will only cause you pain in the long run.

4. You are the only one who can truly identify your priorities in life

A happy life is born out of the choices that you make. If you are unsure about something, simply say no. If you are hesitant because you don’t feel it in your heart, say no.

If it isn’t what you want, say no. Nobody can tell you what you should be doing in order to lead a happier life. You are the only one who can do this.
