Intuition is a “Superpower”: This is how you can develop and enhance it
Your intuition is your gut feeling. It is the ability to know and sense something without any analytical or logical reasoning. Although it is often ridiculed by many, intuition is actually an extremely powerful tool. It follows then that highly intuitive people are able to sense things that most people cannot and they also find it easier to make decisions. While most of us might need to weigh out all the positives and negatives before making an important choice, people with powerful intuition can easily decide what they think is best just by following their gut. In fact, there is a scientific reason why your intuition is known as your “gut feeling”. Speaking to Forbes, Dr Judith Orloff MD explained that “scientists believe intuition operates through the entire right side of our brain, the brain’s hippocampus and through our gut (digestive system has neurons as well).”
Dr Judith Orloff further commented:
In my private practice, I work with women executives who come to me to develop their intuition. They see it as a ‘superpower’ to use in all decisions at work as well as a guide for how to be good leaders and organizers.
How can you develop and amplify this superpower?
Meditation allows you to look inward and build a stronger connection with yourself. Messages from your intuition are often quiet and subtle; for this reason, they often go by unnoticed. When you silence your mind, you allow this superpower to shine through. In other words, you are more likely to notice your hunches and gut feelings when you are in a state of calm and peace than when you are stressed and busy.
2. Pay attention to your body
If you notice that your stomach or chest begins to hurt when you are making a decision, maybe you are making a mistake. Have you ever felt completely calm when choosing to do something that others might regard as risky? If so, this was your intuition hinting that you are making the right choice.
3. Calm the cognitive mind
To enhance your intuition, you need to silence your mind. As previously mentioned, this can be done through meditation. In addition to this, you can increase the time you spend in nature and away from electronics. Alternatively, you can engage in something creative such as dance, art, or journaling. All of this silences your mind and allows you to feel rather than think.
