George Floyd’s 6-year-old daughter happily exclaims: “Daddy changed the world!” while sitting atop the shoulders of her ‘uncle’, the retired NBA star Stephen Jackson.
The heart-melting moment was captured on camera and shared all over social media. In fact, one of the people who shared little Gianna’s powerful words was no other, but Bernice A. King – the youngest daughter of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

As many people mention in the comments, Bernice King perfectly understands this young lady’s ‘burden and pride’, and knows exactly how she feels after her father’s tragic death.
King, the CEO of The King Center, recently said in a statement:
“I was five years old when my father was killed by law enforcement. I know that pain, I know that void, I know the journey of anger. I know what people are feeling. I feel it.”
On Tuesday, Gianna’s mother, Roxie Washington, gave an emotional speech, pleading people to remember that George Floyd was a good man and a great father.
Ms. Washington shares her pain that her little girl will be growing up without her father by her side. She says:
“Gianna does not have a father. He will never see her grow up, graduate. He will never walk her down the aisle. If there’s a problem she’s having and she needs a dad, she does not have that anymore.”
The grieving mother couldn’t hold her tears while giving the speech. All she wanted to say was that Gianna’s father was a good man, no matter what other people say. Mr. Floyd’s widow said:
“I’m here for my baby[Gianna] and I’m here for George because I want justice for him. I want justice for him cuz he was good. No matter what anybody thinks, he was good… He was a good man. “
Chris Stewart, the attorney representing the Floyd family, believes that while there has been so much violence in the streets during the protests, there is also beauty. As reported by The Grio, Stewart said:
“We really wanted the world to see the beauty of their child. The beauty of Roxie who is holding up strong throughout this. And the actual situations in life that these things affect.”
According to Floyd’s attorney, it’s not just someone’s death that frustrates people, it’s the consequences that affect their whole lives and their future.
