A 14-year-old girl has set a world record after she took down a buck with 42-scorable points.
- Paslie Werth now holds the record for the largest non-typical whitetail shot by a female hunter.

Paslie Werth shot a world-record-breaking buck on September 6.
The 14-year-old girl from Cimarron, Kansas was rifle hunting with her dad when she shot a buck with 42-scorable points. According to American Hunter, Werth shot the animal when it “stood up from a bedding site just 25 yards away.” Initially, the buck reportedly tallied an “unofficial gross green score of 282 6/8 inches, and displayed 44 total points.” Subsequently, the 14-year-old girl had to wait for the mandatory 60-day drying period to pass before the rack could be officially measured. Fox News reported that following the drying period, it was given an official score of 271 4/8 inches and 42 points.
Werth commented on her experience:
When we got the score, it was hard to wrap around because none of us guessed it to be that much. And it was just very surprising, and I kinda couldn’t believe it. The trail camera pictures that we got, did not do it justice.
The buck, which was harvested on the family’s land, was first spotted three years ago.
Werth explained that every year, the family had passed on the buck. “My sister passed on the buck, and then my dad passed it on last year, because it was pretty broke up when he saw it, and this year, was kinda just my year. It was very shocking when I got him,” shared Werth. Moreover, the girl explained that the record she set was not as important to her as was the time she spent with her father: “Being with my dad and as soon as I shot it and we got out of the blind and we got to it, we were so happy then and that was probably the best moment of it. Being able to share the experience with my dad, it was just really fun,” she revealed.
Unsurprisingly, the girl’s record has not received unanimous support and praise. While many have supported Werth, many have also condemned her for shooting the buck.
