World’s first SPACE HOTEL set to begin construction in 2025

Welcome to the future! The world’s first space hotel is set to open in 2027.

  • Orbital Assembly Corporation (OAC) is building the world’s first space hotel.
  • Voyager Class is set to open doors in 2027, with its construction expected to begin in 2025.
  • The space hotel will likely be “the first commercial space construction project in history.”

Imagine being able to spend a weekend with a loved one or with your family in outer space. Well, in less than a decade, this might be more than just a dream!

The company Orbital Assembly Corporation (OAC) is building the world’s first space hotel!

As UNILAD reports, Voyager Class, the out-of-this-world resort, is expected to open doors in 2027, with its construction set to begin in 2025. The hotel will be able to accommodate 400 people. What’s more, it will have its own bars, cinema, restaurants, and spa.

The company’s website states:

“[The Voyager Class space station]  will be designed from the start to accommodate both national space agencies conducting low gravity research and space tourists who want to experience life on a large space station with the comfort of low gravity and the feel of a nice hotel.”

Voyager Class’s structure will consist of two concentric structural rings fixed together – an inner and an outer ring.

The inner ring, called Docking Hub, will be designed to capture and lock in place a visiting spacecraft to unload passengers and cargo. The outer ring will be supported by a network of spokes to the Docking Hub. It will be the “backbone” of the station, providing mounting for “habitable modules, solar panels, radiators, and a rail transport system.”

Space.com reveals that the idea of a space hotel dates back to 2012 when John Blincow founded The Gateway Foundation. Six years later, the OAC was established, as a way to make the foundation’s ambitious goals, including “jumpstarting and sustaining a robust and thriving space construction industry,” come true. Interestingly, the Gateway Foundation claims these are “important first steps to colonizing space and other worlds.”

Furthermore, describing the space hotel project, they state:

“This will likely be the first commercial space construction project in history.”

If you are excited about the construction of Voyager Class, the world’s first space hotel, you can join the crew! The Gateway Foundation is currently looking for “talented and dedicated people to make Voyager a reality.”
