British Columbia, Canada: A woman woke up to the shocking sight of a meteor piece lying on her pillow and a hole in her ceiling.
Ruth Hamilton from Golden had been sleeping comfortably in bed asleep when a giant glowing rock appeared in the sky above Lake Louise as locals looked up in amazement.
And Ruth was quickly woken up by something smashing through the ceiling, with debris landing all over her.
At first, she didn’t know what to think and didn’t realize what had actually happened. In an interview with Castlegar News, she said:
“I just jumped up and turned on the light.”
Eventually, Ruth understood that she was sharing her pillow with a large rock…
According to a police officer who responded to her emergency call, the rock did not appear as a result of the ongoing construction work in the area, and it was then that they realized it was actually a meteor that had entered through the roof.
Ruth went on to say:
“We called the Canyon project to see if they were doing any blasting and they weren’t, but they did say they had seen a bright light in the sky that had exploded and caused some booms.
I was shaking and scared when it happened, I thought someone had jumped in or it was a gun or something. It’s almost a relief when we realised it could only have fallen out of the sky.”
Anyone else planning on getting out for the Perseids meteor shower this week? Ill be staying in the beautiful Lake Louise for some epic photo ops, like this one during Orenids last year. pic.twitter.com/Qhmwvgwt7k

“The only other thing I can think of saying is life is precious and it could be gone at any moment even when you think you are safe and secure in your bed. I hope I never ever take it for granted again.”
Fortunately, she was unharmed and decided to keep the meteor piece safe for her grandchildren to marvel at.
