A young Russian woman from Moscow fell in love with and married a metal briefcase named Gideon after she saw him in the store 5 years ago.
24-year-old Rain Gordon, who has a job as a nursery school teacher, says that her obsession with inanimate objects started developing when she was still a child. She is a firm believer that everything around her, whether it breathes or not, has a soul, and as time went on her beliefs only grew in strength.
During her teenage years, Rain fell in love with a newly-opened shopping center in her city, but she knew that people would judge her, so she kept it to herself. Now, she is ready to tell the world about her relationship with Gideon the briefcase in order to fight the stigma and misunderstandings surrounding romantic relationships with non-living things.
“The sight of Gideon makes my heart skip a beat. I am madly in love with silver, mirror reflections and metal,” she told Caters News.
“People don’t understand my feeling. I’ve been told I’m sick and to seek treatment. “I don’t let it offend me anymore.”
The “couple” met back in 2015 after Rain bought her husband at a hardware store as she wanted to use him as a prop for a photoshoot.
But eventually, she found herself falling for Gideon, and they became an item.
The two have since been in a serious relationship and even got married last summer.
“I had no idea that we would end up together. I admired how he looked, but I didn’t think anything more,” Rain said.
“But then I started liking Gideon for more than that. I slowly realized I was starting to fall in love. We shared our first hug and kiss, and we spent more time together in the evenings and nights. We could have philosophical conversations for three or four hours.”

Rain says she wasn’t always strictly into inanimate objects, and she even dated a real guy in 2017 but their relationship ended after 2 years.
And one of the reasons they ended things is that he found out about her secret…
“When faced with a choice between him and Gideon, I chose Gideon without any hesitation,” Rain said.
“I always have and always will choose him. For me, objects – although I don’t really like using that word – really are better than people.”
The woman and the briefcase got married in a ceremony that was attended by her family and friends, and Rain says she’s never been happier.
