Germany is one of the most popular destinations in Europe for a variety of reasons.
If you know someone who lived there or who has visited there before, you likely already know how popular it is. But if you don’t know someone who has at least visited Germany once, you still owe it to yourself to make the trip one time. Here are some of the top reasons why Germany is such a popular attraction.
1. Germans Always Have Fun
Whether you go during Oktoberfest, Christmas or just about any other time of year, you will likely find the Germans celebrating something. If you like to drink beer, then you will fit right in with the crowd. But if drinking isn’t your thing, then you can still have plenty of fun at the different festivals that they feature year round.
2. The Fine Arts are Top of the Line
If you are interested in fine arts, then there are not many better places to visit than Germany. It has a few hundred theatres, more than one hundred professional orchestras and even more museums and collections of famous pieces. Even if you aren’t that interested in fine arts, you will surely be astonished as some of the masterpieces that you will come across in Germany.
3. Germans Like to Relax
Many people know that Germans like to celebrate and have fun. What people may not know is that they like to relax just the same. Germany has several hundred beautiful hotels and resorts with many different accommodations to ensure that your stay will be refreshing.
4. You Won’t have to Learn Another Language
Unlike other countries that you travel to, you shouldn’t have to learn a new language just to get by. The primary language is German, but there is a large population that also speaks English. Even if they don’t speak English fluently, they know enough to get by so that they can carry on a conversation with you.
5. The Autobahn
You can cover a lot of scenery in a short amount of time when you get on the autobahn. Whether you are a car enthusiast or you need to rent a car from Easy Rental just so that you can make a trip down the autobahn. There are no speed limits, so you will be able to live on the edge at high speeds without having to look over your shoulder.
6. Take a River Cruise
You can go on a couple of relaxing cruises that will take you around the countryside in Germany. Sit back and enjoy the landscape and learn about the history of some of the areas all in one sitting. Chances are, you will see some pretty neat things along the way.
7. Berlin is Where It’s At
Whether you are young or old, you have to check out Berlin when you are in Germany. It has a ton of historical museums and other scenes, as well as one of the best nightlife scenes in the country.
8. The Food
This should really be closer to the top of the list. Germans have over 1,000 different types of sausages to go along with their famous sauerkraut and potato salad. They aren’t shy about their portions, either. Whether you are a local or a tourist, you will be fed well when you are in Germany.
9. Germans are Good People
Of course, this is only partially true since there are good people and bad people in every country. You can almost bet that you will have positive experiences with most of the people in Germany that you have a conversation with. If they trust you to be their friends, they will treat you well during your entire stay.
10. They Love their Football
Ask any native German about football and they won’t be talking about the same football that Americans rave about. European football (soccer) is huge in Germany and they take it very seriously. Even if you aren’t a fan of European soccer, you owe it to yourself to experience a game when you are in Germany. The fans are some of the most dedicated in the world and you will likely see that passion quickly when you’re at a game or even if you bring up football in a conversation.
