VIDEO: Man Who Knocked 92-Year-Old Woman To The Ground Identified and Arrested
New York police have arrested a man who assaulted an old woman in Gramercy Park.
CCTV of the violent act has been released to the public.
Police have said that the suspect has been arrested numerous times before on a variety of charges.
The attack happened as a 92-year-old lady was walking down a sidewalk when for no reason whatsoever, a man punches her. She then falls to the ground and hits her head on a fire hydrant.
The man then casually walks off while turning back to look at her struggle.
“I can’t believe that someone would do this,” the woman told CBS2’s Jenna DeAngelis.

The woman was even more stunned when she was shown the CCTV footage of her assault.
“Oh, he did look back. He did look back to see me fall on the floor, that rat!” the woman said.
This callous crime didn’t merit coverage on the big networks. Why? Violent racism? Who are his role models? https://t.co/Yipg6TQrig

Although the woman did not want to give her name – most likely for security reasons – she showed DeAngelis her injuries for which she had to be brought to Mount Sinai Beth Israel hospital.
“He hit me on the left – ow – that hurts to touch it,” she said, indicating her head. “[My arm] was all bloody.”
“This man did nothing except change my life and almost kill me,” the victim added.
The attack took place on Third Avenue as the woman was on her way to the shop last Friday.
“With my visor on and my face mask, so he barely saw who I was. He just saw an elderly lady walking slowly and he decided I’m perfect for a victim,” she said. “I’m not going to walk on the street alone right now, absolutely not.”
The lady was relieved after she found out that a tip by an unidentified person led to the arrest of Rashid Brimmage, 31, in Harlem on Tuesday.
Brimmage is a registered sex offender who authorities say has been arrested around 65 times for crimes such as harassment, assault, persistent sexual abuse, and more. He is to appear in court next month for charges from earlier in 2020.
Authorities say, he attacked the woman leaving her to plead:
“Please stop what you’re doing. That’s all I can say to this man.”
