The Evergreen ship stuck in the Suez Canal inspired a massive amount of memes circulating the internet.
You are probably aware of the Suez Canal saga, where the 400m-long (1,300ft) cargo ship Evergreen got stuck in the canal last Tuesday. In case you haven’t seen the news lately, the enormous Taiwanese vessel blocked the Egyptian canal, standing in the way of many other transit ships responsible for 12% of the world’s trade pass, as per BBC.
Although the case is quite serious, having in mind that the blockage causes significant economic losses estimated by the Lloyd’s List Intelligence’s experts to be holding up $400 million worth of goods per hour, people all over the world find it absolutely hilarious. As UNILAD notes, the internet has once more delivered brilliant memes that we can all relate to. Most of the witty images were provoked by a real-life photo showing a tiny digger desperately trying to make way for the 200,000-tonne ship.
Check out some of the most comical works of netizens’ imagination!

What makes these memes exceptional is how much we can all relate to the situations they describe and understand the humor behind each and every one of them.
I feel bad for the Suez Canal workers but the memes are gold pic.twitter.com/OD2qMl1OZh

But wait… There’s more!
Apparently, memes were only the beginning. Just five days after the Evergreen vessel got stuck in the Suez Canal, a game designer created Suez Canal Bulldozer – a videogame that lets you try to bulldoze the ship.
In the game, you are in the role of a small bulldozer trying to move a boulder to free a giant ship called Ever Given. You can use only five buttons: the four direction arrows and J for ‘action’. And the best thing is(or the worst, depending on the way you see the Suez Canal saga), that no matter what you do in the game, no matter how many times you press J or any other key, you will accomplish absolutely nothing. The only thing you will see is the disheartening message: “It’s super stuck.”
What do you think of the drama in the Suez Canal? Are you enjoying the memes? Did you know about the videogame? Leave a comment to let us know!
