Registered sex offender chases a naked teenage boy in the street, kills him in cold blood

A registered sex offender is facing charges for homicide after shooting a teenage boy in Pennsylvania.

  • A teenage boy was chased and gunned down by a registered sex offender.
  • The suspect was entered as a lifetime sex offender in 2015.
  • He is now in custody, facing charges for homicide.

A witness told the Morning Call that the boy was fleeing, naked, trying to run away from the sex offender when he reportedly gunned him down in cold blood. The tragic incident happened on Saturday afternoon in Harrisburg.

The suspect was entered as a lifetime sex offender into Pennsylvania’s Megan’s Law registry in 2015, The Blaze reports. Orlando P. Duarte, 45, was registered for involuntary deviate sexual intercourse.

The sex offender reportedly fired several shots at the 16-year-old Kyan King. Kyan was taken to a hospital, where he later died of his wounds.

When police responded to a call of shots fired, after a brief chase, they found Duarte with a weapon. He is now in custody at the Dauphin County Prison without bail. Additionally, he also faces charges of prohibited possession of a firearm.

Tracy Burton, an onlooker, said the boy “was pleading for his life”. She added that Kyan was shouting: “Help me!” when she heard at least five shots.

Another witness said she saw the teenage boy run by, telling her that he had been raped.

According to PennLive, the eyewitness, whose name is not revealed, told police she then saw a man with a gun chasing the child.

A third onlooker said he saw the kid at Duarte’s apartment in the 600 block of North 17th Street earlier that day.

After investigating the suspect’s home, police discovered a box of .22-caliber shell casings and two letters. One of the letters appeared to have been written by Kyan moments before he was tragically shot.

The note said: “If you’re reading this, I’m dead.”

The sex offender has a disturbing history of deviant sexual violence.

In 2012, Duarte was sentenced to four to eight years in prison and 10 years of probation for involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child.

The charges also included aggravated indecent assault of a child, aggravated indecent assault without consent, indecent assault of a person less 13, unlawful contact with a minor, and corruption of minors.

Four years prior to this sentence, the offender received to six to 23 months of confinement and probation after pleading “no contest” to charges of simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, indecent assault of a person less than 16, and disorderly conduct.

A fundraiser page has been set up to help Kyan’s family in this distressing time.

Tamara King, on behalf of the boy’s mother, has organized a GoFundMe page to help the devastated family with funeral and related expenses. Ms. King wrote:

“We are just asking for first your prayers. He was very young and dear to our hearts. Second we are asking for a donation of any kind!! ANYTHING WILL HELP!!”

Destiny Williams, another family member, said she couldn’t believe why someone would do such cruelty. She told WHTM-TV:

“A lot of anger. A lot of hurt. A lot of confusion as to why that man would want to do something to an innocent 16-year-old. That’s something that I would never fathom. Like how do you do that to someone, especially him.”

Kyan’s sister, Nyairrea Jones, warned families to keep their children close, ‘because there’s predators out here’.

The registered sex offender is currently in custody, facing charges for homicide, and prohibited possession of a firearm.
