Refugee Mother Gives Birth While On Evacuation Flight From Afghanistan

A woman from Afghanistan has given birth while onboard an evacuation plane from Kabul.

A social media statement by the Air Mobility Command revealed that she had been on a plane from an Intermediate Staging Base in the Middle East on August 21. While she was onboard the US Air Force C-17, she suddenly went into labor with complications.

And that was when the captain decided to get the pane to a lower altitude to increase air supply, which ultimately “helped stabilize and save the mother’s life’”.

Eventually, the plane landed at the Ramstein Air Base in Germany, and air personnel from the 86th MDG came in and delivered the baby girl in the cargo bay.

Images captured after the baby’s birth show medics helping the mother and her family off the aircraft.

The mother and her baby girl were then brought to a medical facility from where they were reported to be “in good condition.”

American and British troops have been evacuating desperate refugees from Afghanistan after the Taliban took over the country.

According to the White House, the US military has so far airlifted around 17,000 people from the international airport in Kabul.
