Prince Harry sells his £50,000 worth shooting rifles and gives up hunting for wife Meghan Markle
Prince Harry has sold a pair of high-priced handmade hunting rifles to please his animal-loving wife, Meghan Markle.
As The Sun reports, a fellow hunter bought the lavish pair of handmade Purdey firearms, thought to be worth at least £50,000, in a private deal. He purchased the hunting rifles five months ago before the royal couple left the UK for a fresh start in North America.
An acquaintance to the anonymous buyer claimed his friend bought the firearms not because they belonged to Prince Harry, but simply because he wanted them. However, the hunter was quite surprised when he found out the origins of his new purchase. The buyer’s friend continued:
“They are beautiful examples and he’s very pleased with them but he’s not the sort of person who wants to boast about the royal connection.”
Last week, as Mail Online reveals, speaking of Harry and William, Conservationist Dr. Jane Goodall told the Radio Times:
“They hunt and shoot. But I think Harry will stop because Meghan doesn’t like hunting.”
In fact, in December 2018, during Meghan and Harry’s first Christmas season together, people were rumoring the Prince would hold back from the traditional Boxing Day hunt. However, these rumors had to be dismissed by palace sources as ‘completely untrue‘.
Moreover, Prince Harry has been notably absent from shoots at Balmoral and Sandringham.
News of the remarkable £50,000 sale comes the week after the 35-year-old royalty allegedly shared with friends he missed the ‘camaraderie’ of life in the forces.
On March 31st, when the couple stepped back as senior royals, Prince Harry was stripped of his military appointments. Some of the roles he had to give up were Captain-General of the Royal Marines and Honorary Air Commandant of RAF Honington.
Since the couple moved from Canada to the United States, they have been renting a home near to Elton John and David Furnish, who they are believed to have been keeping in touch with. Now, Harry and Meghan are reportedly considering moving into a six-bedroom home near LA’s wealthy neighborhood of Pacific Palisades.
They are said to be planning to have Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, move in with them and baby Archie.
A source reported to The Sun:
“Once quarantine and lockdown are over, Harry and Meghan will be moving into their new pad – and they want Doria to be included in these plans. She is hugely independent though, and doesn’t want to be in their space. She will have her own granny annex.”
Meghan reportedly wishes to keep her 63-year-old mother close, as she doesn’t trust many people outside of her circle.
The source added that while Harry has reportedly grown increasingly distant from his own family, he has formed a close bond with Archie’s grandmother.
“Harry has also grown close to her so, believe it or not, he was receptive to the idea of living with his mother-in-law.”
However, being under lockdown, the Sussexes won’t be moving house any time soon, as the source reports. Still, both Harry and Meghan are looking forward to ‘laying down more permanent roots in Los Angeles’.
