PlayStation is hiring people to play video games for a living

Imagine telling your 10-year-old self that one day, you could play video games for a living. How awesome would that be?!

Now, imagine telling this to your 30-year-old self. Still sounds pretty exciting, right?

Well, that’s exactly the job position PlayStation is offering.

And as long as you’re fluent in either Brazilian, Russian, or Arabic, you would be a decent applicant.

As LADbible reveals, PlayStation is offering vacancies for ‘localisation testers’ in Liverpool.

Working as a localisation tester, you will be given tasks regarding the efficiency of audio and text in video games. In other words, your job will be to make sure the audio and text in video games are correct. And you will be doing that by playing video games.

However, being an expert in playing video games wouldn’t be enough for the perfect candidate the company is looking for. Besides, you will definitely have to be able to pay good attention to detail, as your job will be to detect errors and provide corrections when they occur.

According to the job advertisement, you will occasionally translate text for a video game or marketing. The job description asks its future applicants:

“Do you have a passion for languages and games? Do you enjoy finding linguistic mistakes in video games? Would you like to be part of an international team whose work has impact on players around the world? Then we would love to hear from you!”

If you are interested in the position, and you know you are, you can apply on Indeed.

And if you are lucky enough to catch PlayStation’s attention, you will be invited to complete a mandatory translation test.

The test will be sent via e-mail and must be completed within 1 hour of receiving it.

As for working hours, there would be nothing unusual such as long night shifts. Your workday will start at 9 a.m. and will end at 5:30 p.m., with a standard Monday to Friday workweek.

  • Passionate games player
  • Good knowledge of computer games across multiple platforms
  • Working knowledge of MS Office package
