Painful letter begs burglar to return photos of dog’s last day alive

There is a good reason why dogs are called man’s best friend.

Devoted, cuddly and intelligent, dogs are a vital part of family life and if you are fortunate enough to have one, you will most likely agree that the day when we have to say farewell to them is one of the hardest things a person can go through.

This mysterious dog owner was still grieving over the loss of their precious pet when a thief entered their apartment and stole their belongings, which included a camera with a memory card containing photos of their late dog in it – her final days among the living.

In a desperate plea to retrieve the photos, they put a letter on a lamppost begging the thief to return to the photos anonymously.

Taking place in Toronto, Canada, the victim’s plea went as far as to say that the thief can keep all he took, but to please return the priceless memories of their four-legged-friend.

It says:

“To the man who was in my house and robbed me. Keep the cash, and my DSLR, and whatever else you took.

But if you have the memory card from the camera, please, it has photos of my dog’s last day alive on it.

I cannot replace those photos. Please throw it onto the porch or put it in the mail slot. Or mail it.

Please. She died a few days ago. I cannot lose those photos as well.”

The world was just as moved by the victim’s words and have shared the letter, hoping that it gets read by the thief somehow.

This includes Saoirse Morgan, who attached the image and wrote the following on Facebook:

“Photo taken at Bloor and Lansdowne. This is simply heartbreaking. I hope this person does the right thing.”

Her post has since been shared tens of thousands of times with many people offering to help.

Unfortunately, all we can do is pray that the robber finds some compassion in his heart and returns the memory card, as we all understand that losing a pet can potentially feel like losing a family member because that is what we see them as.

We can only imagine what this poor person must be feeling, having to come to terms with the fact that those last memories may never be brought back.

To whoever is in possession of this memory card, please do the right thing.
