Not every choice you make will bring you happiness. Some will bring you strength.
Nowadays, many of us are focusing all of our energy on seeking happiness.
We believe that being happy is a goal or a destination we must reach at all costs. But as you may have read before, happiness is a journey, not a destination.
Life should not be about finding happiness at any price. It should be about finding yourself and your purpose. It should be about embracing both the good and the bad and welcoming change, even when it scares you. Once you see this, you will realize that everything you go through brings you a valuable lesson and helps you grow stronger.
Here are 6 things to help you go through life with confidence, strength, and an open heart:
1. Accept that life is unpredictable.
Sooner or later, one way or another, we all understand how wildly unpredictable life actually is. You can never know what will happen next – you can only assume. This realization sometimes makes us feel powerless. However, it also makes us appreciate the fact that life is full of surprises. The greatest adventure you would ever experience may be just around the corner. The love you are longing for may appear before your eyes in months, days, even hours. So instead of fearing change, accept that life is unpredictable and welcome its wonderful surprises.
2. Bad things sometimes happen for a good reason.
“Often it’s the deepest pain which empowers you to grow into your highest self.”
It may be hard to understand, but the truth is that sometimes it is the hurtful experiences that shape us as decent human beings. Most of them come with a valuable life lesson that teaches us how to move on stronger than before. The best thing you could do is to accept those lessons and actually learn from them.
3. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.
This phrase has become an annoying cliché, but there is a solid reason for that. If you think about it, everything you experience, good and bad, helps you grow, as long as you allow it. All that you go through – the happiest moments of your life, as well as the hardships, make you stronger than yesterday.
4. Never stop being a fighter.
Life is a neverending battle with all kinds of demons. Its unpredictableness doesn’t make it any easier. But if you stop fighting, you risk losing your purpose. This may turn out to be fatal for your personal growth. Truthfully, being a real fighter is extremely challenging, unbearable, and sometimes frightening. However, in the end, all the struggles are worth the effort, as long as you chase after something worth fighting for.
5. Look on the bright side, but know where is the limit.
Always look on the bright side of life. There is something positive about every situation you find yourself in. However, don’t let this positive thinking make you refuse to accept the negative things that happen to you. Unfortunately, you can’t permanently look at the world around you with your rose-colored glasses on. Besides, you can’t appreciate the amazing moments without going through the bad ones. That’s why you need to be open to accept all that happens in your life and embrace the changes.
6. Remember the people who are there for you.
Wherever you go, whatever you choose to become, there will be people who would support you no matter what. Your friends and family will root for you even when you are at your lowest. The ones close to you will never turn their back on you, even if you turn yours on them. So, if you are struggling to find a reason to continue fighting – do it for them. Do it for the ones who love you unconditionally. Do it for those who have your best interest at heart and want to see you thrive. They will be forever grateful.
When you have a circle of kindhearted people cheering for you and a purpose worth fighting for, giving up is never an option. If one day you wake up thinking there is no point in keeping up, remember how far you’ve gotten. Remind yourself of all the challenges you went through. Think of all the people who have supported you while overcoming those challenges. This will help you find the strength within you to keep going.
No matter how hard life can be sometimes, know that you are powerful enough to achieve every single goal you have. Until then, welcome the good and the bad equally, as all these experiences may bring you valuable lessons to learn from.
