Marine Dad Gives Emotional First Salute To Son After He’s Promoted To Commissioned Officer
A marine father gave an emotional first salute to his son, who had just become a commissioned officer.
A viral TikTok video shows Master Sgt. Michael Fisher “rendering his son his first salute.” As UNILAD reports, the sergeant’s son was recently promoted to a second lieutenant.
To congratulate his son for his admirable accomplishment, Sgt. Fisher gave him his first salute as a commissioned officer. The emotionally moving scene was recorded and posted on the marine father’s TikTok account.
In the viral video, which has been viewed nearly 5 million times, the sergeant tells his son:
“I’ve watched you grow and mature and become the man that you are today. You have always been respectful by saying… yes, sir, no sir; yes ma’am, no ma’am. A salute is a sign of respect. It is a privilege to render you your first salute. But it is an even greater honor to say congratulations, sir, for your commission.”
Another touching video shows the proud father shaking hands with his son before giving him a heartfelt hug.
In the follow-up video, while everyone in the room claps, Sgt. Fisher says:
“Ladies and gentlemen, my son: Second Lt. Fisher!”
The marine father continues:
“I think we’re all proud of him. He made my job as a father easy. He made me look good. This young man, this young officer, is gonna grow to do amazing things.”
Other TikTok users were quick to congratulate the pair. One of them commented:
“Congrats, gentlemen. Thank you both for your esteemed service and sacrifice. Oh, and… I’m not crying, you’re crying.”
