A man received a four-year sentence for raping a woman by piercing a condom before they had sex.
- Andrew Lewis, 47, was accused of rape after puncturing a condom before having sex with a woman.
- Lewis was sentenced to four years behind bars.
- The woman said his act was “pure evil.”
Andrew Lewis, 47, from Worcester, tricked his victim by intentionally making a hole in a condom with a pin before engaging in sexual intercourse. The incident occurred on March 10, 2018, Daily Mail reveals.
On October 2, 2020, Lewis was given four years behind bars at Worcester Crown Court.
According to the prosecutor Glyn Samuel, the woman had found the pin along with other punctured contraceptives in a drawer next to the bed. When she saw the pierced condoms, she immediately checked the one they had used and saw the hole the man had previously made in it.
The victim claimed the act was “pure evil.”
Prosecutor Samuel said:
“He told police he had hoped the condom would split and it would improve the intimacy. He said it was the stupidest thing he has ever done. In piercing the condom beforehand there was a degree of planning involved.”
In Lewis’ defense, Lynette McClement said he didn’t intend to get the woman pregnant but to enhance the intimacy in their relationship. McClement stated:
“She had every right to choose her form of contraception. He had hoped it would tear, and as a result, she would change her mind. It is an unusual case.”
However, as Judge Cole, who sentenced the 47-year-old man, said, the victim made it clear she did not want a baby. While she had given consent for the sexual act, she was demanding Lewis should use a condom. Therefore, his deed was “a breach of trust.”
While giving Andrew Lewis the four-year sentence, Judge Cole added:
“The offense of rape is so serious a custodial sentence is appropriate.”
