Kellyanne Conway will be stepping down from her position as senior advisor to the president by the end of August.
Officials told NBC News that she told Trump about her decision last Sunday at the White House. According to sources, the president supports her decision.
Conway made a statement saying,
“This is completely my choice and my voice. In time, I will announce future plans. For now, and for my beloved children, it will be less drama, more mama.”
She served as the president’s campaign manager in 2016 and is one of his longest-serving senior advisors.
Conway’s husband, George, is also stepping down from The Lincoln Project, a Republican group that opposes the president. He also talked about wanting to “devote more time to family matters,” expressing his support for the group.

George Conway, who has openly criticized Trump, also said he will be taking a break from Twitter, as per The Washington Post.
The news came at the height of the Republican National Convention and some two months before the 2020 election.
According to sources, Kellyanne Conway is still expected to hold a speech at the RNC next Wednesday as expected.
And while Kellyanne’s husband has always been against Trump, she has been one of his most adamant defenders.
So I’m withdrawing from @ProjectLincoln to devote more time to family matters. And I’ll be taking a Twitter hiatus.
Needless to say, I continue to support the Lincoln Project and its mission. Passionately.

The couple’s opposing views have often drawn the attention of the media.
“We disagree about plenty but we are united on what matters most: the kids … As millions of parents nationwide know, kids ‘doing school from home’ requires a level of attention and vigilance that is as unusual as these times,” Kellyanne Conway said in her statement.
Last Sunday, their 15-year-old daughter Claudia expressed her shock about her mother speaking at the RNC.
Taking to social media, she said she did not agree with her parents’ political views, before also announcing her break from Twitter.
