The famous golfer’s marriage has ended with an ugly divorce after betraying his wife Elin Nordegren numerous times, Newsner reveals.

Tiger Woods is one of the greatest golf players in the sport’s history. However, his incredible reputation as a sportsman does not align with his reputation as a husband. The couple got married in 2004 and separated officially in 2010. During their marriage, Woods had been unfaithful to his wife with over a hundred different women, as he himself confirmed in 2009.

As InTouch Weekly reports, after his infidelity came to light, Woods stated:

“I have let my family down and I regret those transgressions with all of my heart. I have not been true to my values and the behavior my family deserves. I am not without faults and I am far short of perfect.”

The golf player admitted that Nordegren has “shown more grace than anyone could possibly expect” in the wake of the shocking adultery revelation. He added:

“I will strive to be a better person and the husband and father that my family deserves. For all of those who have supported me over the years, I offer my profound apology.”

Nordegren was shocked to find out that her husband also had an affair with their 21-year-old neighbor.

The one-night stand Woods had with the 21-year-old daughter of a neighbor in Florida was the final straw for Elin. This time the other woman was Raychel Coudriet, a neighbor’s kid whom Tiger had reportedly known since she was just 14, as the New York Post notes.

Reportedly, as soon as Nordegren learned of her husband’s affair with Raychel, she called him to hear his version of the truth. According to a source who witnessed Elin’s outburst, she was too upset to keep her voice down, so “everyone at the table could hear what she was saying.”  While yelling at Woods on the phone, the heartbroken mother-of-two said:

“This is the worst betrayal ever. I can’t believe you had sex with that girl in our own neighborhood. That’s it — I’m divorcing you.”

Devastated from the betrayal, Nordegren shared:

“I’ve been through hell. It’s hard to think you have this life, and then all of a sudden — was it a lie? You’re struggling because it wasn’t real. But I survived. It was hard, but it didn’t kill me.”

Woods and Nordegren finalized their divorce in August 2010.

As per CheatSheet, the professional golfer paid $110 million to his ex-wife in divorce settlements. While officially taking responsibility for his infidelity after their separation, Tiger Woods stated:

“The issue involved here was my repeated irresponsible behavior. I was unfaithful. I had affairs. I cheated. What I did was not acceptable and I am the only person to blame. I ran straight through the boundaries that a married couple should live by — I thought I could get away with whatever I wanted to. I felt that I had worked hard my entire life and deserved to enjoy all the temptations around me. I felt I was entitled.”

Today, the golf player and his former partner remain friends for the sake of their children. Nordegren shares that Woods is a “great father,” while he claims that the relationship they have now is “fantastic” and Elin is one of his “best friends.”
