Grandfather, 65, who raped his intellectually impaired granddaughter, 6, jailed for just three years
Only three years of jail time for the man who digitally raped his intellectually impaired six-year-old granddaughter.
The Queensland attacker will be eligible for parole on December 3, when considering time already served ahead of sentencing, as reported by Daily Mail.
In November 2018, the sick 65-year-old man, whose name is not revealed due to legal reasons, sexually abused his 6-year-old granddaughter. As per Gold Coast Bulletin, the man pleaded guilty to one count of rape and apologized after initially denying the act.
According to the graphic details the court heard, the innocent little girl asked her grandfather to stop as he was telling her to ‘shut up’. It was also revealed that the man had been drinking before the assault.
After details of the terrifying attack emerged, the 65-year-old man allegedly tried to overdose and take his own life, the court heard. He was reportedly ‘disgusted’ and disappointed with himself, his defense claims.
Since the horrific assault, the man had been excommunicated from most of his family.
According to a report, the attacker was a ‘low-risk’ of re-offending. On the contrary, Judge Catherine Muir said:
“This is reprehensible offending. It is predatory and it was a breach of trust committed by you on your young, intellectually impaired granddaughter. Your offending, unsurprisingly, has had a destructive effect on the complainant and on your family.”
The sadistic grandfather is expected to be freed before Christmas this year.
