Dmitriy Stuzhuk, an Instagram fitness influencer from Ukraine, died at only 33 after contracting coronavirus on a trip to Turkey, Daily Mail reports.
At a point, Dmitriy’s condition was seemingly improving, and he was discharged from the hospital he has been treated at. Unfortunately, his welfare rapidly deteriorated, and he was rushed back to the hospital.
The social media influencer was promoting healthy living and sports to his followers. Tragically, despite him being young and incredibly fit, the father-of-three did not survive in the battle with COVID-19.
While announcing Dmitriy’s death, Sofia Stuzhuk, 25, his ex-wife and mother of his children, said the virus had triggered severe heart complications. In a heart-tearing post, she wrote:
“Dima is no longer with us. His heart was not coping.”

Before his death, the 33-year-old man admitted he did not believe COVID-19 was real.
Shortly after contracting the virus, Dmitriy told his fans:
“I also thought there was no Covid, and it is all relative. Until I got sick.
COVID-19 IS NOT A SHORT-LIVED DISEASE! And it is heavy.”
Stuzhuk explained that one day, while on a trip to Turkey, he woke up with a swollen neck and breathing difficulties. As soon as he went back to his home country, he took a coronavirus test, which turned out to be positive. Describing his terrible hospital experience, Dmitriy wrote:
“The hospital is completely filled with people, some of them being treated in corridors. There is no food, no paper, no cutlery either! Nobody warned me about this… I was prescribed a course of treatment and told that I needed to continue it. They gave me an oxygen apparatus for breathing since I have a low oxygen level.”

In only eight days of his hospitalization, the fitness influencer was told he could continue his treatment at home. According to the doctors, the overcrowded hospital was not a suitable place for the 33-year-old patient anymore, as his condition was seemingly improving. In his post, Dmitriy also declared:
“At home, as they say, the walls heal. My condition is stable.”
Unfortunately, after only a few hours, Dmitriy was rushed back to the hospital in a ‘grave condition.’
Although doctors did whatever they could to save Stuzhuk, he soon lost his life to COVID-19 due to heart complications.
Dmitriy left behind his three beautiful children – David, Lola, and Olivia. Although he and Sofia split six months ago, they were recently on good terms with each other. The 25-year-old mother shares:
“I will remain grateful to you for the rest of my life for our three beautiful children. For all invaluable experiences. And for who I have become with you… You are our guardian angel and your love will always protect our angels.”
