Good parenting is the most important thing in the life of a child. Parents bring us into this world, raise us, help us face our fears, and have an important role in how we develop as human beings.
Both mother and father are a vital part of a child’s development. However, there is a special bond formed between father and daughter that is everlasting and incredibly powerful.
Of course, mothers unquestionably have the strongest and most unique relationships with their children. But there is something about the daughter-father relationship that can affect the lives of daughters in a life-changing way.
The first male figure in a woman’s life is her father.
He is her protective shield.
He is her first love.
And while mothers make sure we have everything we need and teach us to be kind and gentle, fathers teach us how to be strong and fearless. To never give up regardless of how difficult things may get. To learn from our mistakes and always give a hundred percent in everything we do.
Mothers avoid risks, while fathers encourage us to take them.
Of course, there are exceptions to the rule and not everyone has had a caring father by their side.
But why do dads have such a great impact on their daughters’ development?
According to a study published in the Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities, daughters with absent fathers are more likely to suffer from psychological and emotional issues and they are more prone to depression and anxiousness than those who have close relationships with their fathers.
Undoubtedly, our families play a colossal part in preparing us for our future relationships with other people. And daughters learn how to create a balanced relationship with their boyfriends, spouses, and others in their life after getting along with their father and brother.
So, usually, troublesome relationships with men, depression low self-esteem often come as a result of a negligent father.
When kids grow up having a close bond with their dads, they are more likely to have a stable and satisfying marriage.
A healthy and balanced relationship with the father prevents the daughter from fearing to enter into an intimate relationship in her adult life. If a girl has a positive love experience with her father in her early years of development, she will do much better later on. Fathers naturally have more of an impact as to how their daughters relate to men than mothers do.
This is the key reason why a healthy father-daughter relationship has a huge sway on a daughter’s interpersonal issues and interactions.
Caring dads have unique importance in the lives of their daughters because they serve as a strong solution to prevent male biases. Hence, a well-raised daughter is more likely to be more psychologically stable, more competent, and give all that she has to fulfill her dreams and ambitions.
It is heartbreaking that just a number of decades ago, dads were often the people who were left with the role of solely providing for the family, while mothers were considered the main and only caretakers.
Nevertheless, it is calming to know that these days, fatherhood carries a different meaning. Because parenting is the responsibility of both parents.
Strong parenting means spending equal time with when it comes to raising children.
Fathers must build a safe and stable environment for their daughters to protect both their physical and emotional needs. A dad’s actions should make his daughter trust that she never has to feel afraid to share her feelings.
At the end of the day, we are the product of the people who raise us. We learn to gravitate towards those who we recognize as familiar. And yes, it seems that the saying “Daughters end up marrying their fathers” could actually hold some truth.
