Escorted By Parents, 20-Year-Old Riot Inciter Turns Himself In to Police (Videos In Article)

A 20-year-old man named Brian Bartels, who was accused of inciting a violent riot in Pittsburgh last weekend, has been arrested by police.

He turned himself into a police station last Monday and was escorted by his parents.

The man is facing charges of rioting, reckless engagement, and institutional vandalism. Bartels is also responsible for smashing the windows of a police car “against the wishes of peaceful protesters who tried to stop him”, according to authorities, even though many joined in the act of destruction.

After he was taken into custody, authorities said they got a call from Bartel’s lawyer earlier in the day saying that Bartel would turn himself in the afternoon.

The accused did not comment on his case as he walked into the police station. The lawyer also told KDKA he was not ready to comment.

There were immense chaos and destruction following last weekend’s violent riot, and authorities believe Bartels was a key violence inciter.

The police in Pittsburgh released a picture of him dressed in black with a black bandana on his face.

The man was not there, but WPXI reported authorities stumbled upon evidence that connects him to the riots, which included guns, spray paint, and gloves.

In addition, they found the sweatshirt identical to the one that can be seen in the Saturday protest footage.
