‘Modern Family’: A young woman is willing to donate her eggs so that her father can have another baby with her ex-boyfriend.
- Saffron Drewitt-Barlow, daughter of the UK’s first gay couple to become fathers through surrogacy, wants to donate her eggs so her dad and his new fiancé, who is also her ex, can have a baby.
- Barrie Drewitt-Barlow, 50, and his fiancé, Scott Hutchison, 25, already welcomed a baby daughter in September, but they want to become parents again.
- Saffron, who loves her step-sister, wants to help the happy couple to have another child.
Saffron Drewitt-Barlow, 21, wants to donate her eggs to her dad, Barrie Drewitt-Barlow, 50, and his fiancé, Scott Hutchison, 25, who is also Saffron’s ex-boyfriend. As Newsner reveals, the young woman believes that there is no such thing as a “weird love triangle.”
Saffron and her ex met when Scott started working as a PA for the family. Although they had a romantic relationship, Barrie’s daughter and his fiancé are now good friends. She shares:
“We had fun, and Scott’s a beautiful guy, all my friends fancied him, but we were better off as friends.”
The 21-year-old admits she would be more than thrilled to help her dad and his partner have another baby. This would make her the mother of the child, Scott the biological father, and Barrie the biological grandfather. However, they would be raising the kid as Saffron’s sibling.
The happy gay couple welcomed their first baby Valentina in September.
As the Sun reports, Saffron, who absolutely adores her step-sister, said:
“I love Valentina, and I want to donate my eggs to help Daddy and Scott have more children. I don’t think Daddy likes the idea too much, as he’d be the biological grandparent of the child and Scott would be the biological dad, but I really want to help. I’ve already frozen my eggs for them, so Daddy and Scott just have to say the word.”
Previously, Barrie and his ex-partner, Tony Drewitt-Barlow, were widely-known as UK’s first gay couple to become fathers through surrogacy.
The couple separated after 32 years together. However, when they got together, they were beyond excited to become parents. In late 1999, they welcomed twins, Saffron and Aspen. Then, four years later, they became parents once again to their son Orlando. In 2010, Barrie and Tony welcomed another pair of twins into the family – Jasper and Dallas.
Even though Barrie and his ex-partner ended their relationship, they still have much love for each other, as the whole family lives together in their 10-bedroom mansion. The father-of-six, soon to be seven, says they are a “very modern family.” He adds:
“We are all going to remain living under the same roof. Tony is Dad, I’m Daddy and while at the moment Scott is stepdad, soon he’s going to be Daddy Two. We are happy, we want to co-parent our kids and that’s all that matters. If people don’t get it, that’s their problem, not ours.”
