Seven Chinese women have decided to have the “Golden Girls” approach to life and bought a 7,535 square-foot house in the Guangzhou suburbs for their retirement.

In a video posted on the Youtube channel Yitiao, the girls shared:

The process started exactly a decade ago when the girls made their friendship ‘goal’ a reality. In fact, they put together the sum of $584,000 in order to buy and remodel a redbrick house in a major city in southeastern China near Hong Kong- Guangzhou.

“We’ve known each other for over 20 years. We were colleagues, and sometimes we are even closer than siblings.”

Their house of choice is three-and-a-half-stories high and surrounded by paddy fields, consisting of a shared space on the ground floor and individual bedrooms for each one of them on the upper level.

Some of the most fascinating views include the tatami mats for when they spend time together, a beautiful tea room, Moroccan and Indian furniture, as well as a long dining table for their meals. Furthermore, the outside consists of a swimming pool and a tea pavilion which are interconnected via a bamboo walkaway.

“We’ll probably cook together, barbecue in the fields, sing and collect food in the village. We joke that each of us should practice one skill so that we won’t be lonely and fight with each other 10 years later … Some can cook beautiful food, some know traditional Chinese medicine, some play instruments and some grow vegetables.”

The women add they truly hope that their new home will keep their ‘chosen’ family together forever:

Ten or 15 years later our children might have grown up, so we also hope that we can still be together in the next years.”
