Caring 13-year-old Trades In Xbox and Does Yard Work to Buy His Struggling Mom a Car

Teenagers are often viewed with negativity due to their rebellious nature, and even those of us who have made it through our teen years see them as trouble.

However, there are many teens in the world who have set an incredible example for other kids as well as for grownups.

Today, we will look at the story of a 13-year-old boy from Nevada who sold his X-Box video game console and did all kinds of work in order to raise some money to surprise his struggling mother.

William Preston gave his mom an incredible gift she could have never expected but desperately needed; a new car.

The big-hearted boy understood that his mother was having a hard time caring for him and his two siblings as well as their three dogs without a car.

“I saw on YouTube where people get their mom a car and then surprise her with it,” William told KOLO. “I wanted to do that.”

William saw a Facebook advert for a 1999 Chevrolet Metro and decided to go for it.

“It was really cheap so I asked her (the woman selling the car) if I could trade it for my Xbox or earn it,” the boy said. “At first she said no and after she thought about it, then she said yes.”

When William gave his mother the much-needed present, at first she was speechless, and then she became overly excited.

“I lost it, I bawled, I was just like, there’s no way,” Krystal Preston said.

“The fact that my kid did this, I’m proud, but as a mom I’m supposed to be able to take care of my kids, I’m supposed to do this, not the other way around,” she said. “What 13-year-old buys their mom a car?

“I can’t even express it; there are no words that can express my gratitude and how proud I am,” William’s mom said.

Not long after, William’s family found themselves in a terrible financial situation.

Krystal set up a GoFundMe page explaining:

“WILLIAMS STORY amazing story is one of a kind, he was an amazingly outgoing person since the day he was born. He was born with a severe case of biolateral clubfoot. So from a week old William had surgeries and casting in both legs for years. He never once couldn’t do something he set his mind to. Learned to walk with cast on and everything. He’s alwayse been an out going person . He loves helping people. William also has ADHD and it’s been a struggle for him so a couple years back he started doing lemonade stands then it went to dog poop clean up to yard work to mowing lawns using weed eaters then he started helping construction workers and he loves it. He does all kinds of work and loves to learn new trades then he even got awarded a trip for a week by the city of fernley for helping around town and cleaning up the streets and yards of many people. He is always trying to make people smile . William is always on the move and wants to help and make people smile . And that’s why you are now even reading this is because William helped me his mom in a way that is unremarkable and so inspiring and loving . I’m very proud of him . Our family is going through a rough time in every aspect so anything you give is appreciated more than you know… Thank you all so much and God bless..”

Thanks to the help of wonderful people from all around the world, they managed to raise $13,000!

We wish the Preston family a quick financial recovery and all the best for the future! They deserve it!
