Capitol riot suspect pictured at Pelosi’s desk screams ‘it’s not fair’ in courtroom tantrum
Capitol rioter, who was jailed after being pictured with his boot on top of Nancy Pelosi’s desk, screamed: “It’s not fair!” at a court hearing.
On Thursday, Richard Barnett, 60, yelled about being put behind bars at his federal court hearing in Washington, DC. According to the New York Post, Judge Christopher Cooper set the accused rioter’s next court date for May.
The Arkansas-born man yelled:
“I’ve been here a long time … another month … It’s not fair! You’re letting everyone else out … I need help!”
In late January, Chief Judge Beryl Howell ordered Barnett to remain in jail after he bragged about breaking into House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office during the attack and stealing a piece of her mail.
Howell stated that the rioter was “brazen, entitled, and dangerous.” His intelligence was also questionable, according to the judge. She said:
“I don’t know how smart Mr. Barnett is, but he’s certainly a bragger. Bragging to law enforcement about what he’s done to cover his tracks … is not a smart thing to do.”
Reportedly, Barnett faces more than 10 years behind bars for his role in the Capitol siege.
