A Bangladeshi man who married 60 times in 25 years has been arrested

A Bangladeshi man has been arrested for marrying 60 women in 25 years.

45-year-old Abu Baker from Shobhachar village of Goyalerchar union in the Jampulur district was arrested almost two weeks ago.

Officers said he is known in the area as “Baker teacher.” His first married when he was 20-years-old and has since married been married 60 times in total, using fake documents showing him as an unmarried man or a widower.

He was arrested thanks to his 60th wife, Rosy Khanum, in a case she filed with Purbadhala police station.

Baker had used fake documents to marry Rosy back in August. According to these documents Baker’s name was Shaheen Alam.

After getting married to Rosy he had requested Tk2 lakh as dowry from her father but he refused. Later, he took Tk80,000 ($0,94 ) from Rosy’s brother and ran off.

According to reports, Baker said that even though he married 60 times, he only has seven kids.

He married solely for financial reasons and soon after divorced his wives.

He has continuously used fake documents and never stated his actual address in Islampur Upazila.

Baker lived at his own place with his first spouse Sazeda Begum, two other wives, and seven kids.

Ansar Ali, the Islampur Officer-In-Charge of the investigation, stated that Baker has made a confession about his 60 marriages.
