As the Taliban took over the Afghan capital city of Kabul shortly after President Ashraf Ghani fled the country, hundreds of Afghan-American protesters gathered outside the White House demanding U.S. President Joe Biden to do more.

As Fox News reports, the large group also called on the international community to denounce the Taliban.

One of the demonstrators said through tears:

“My family is there. All my people is there. They’re killing all my people.”

The Taliban seized power in Afghanistan just two weeks before the U.S. was set to complete its troop withdrawal after a costly two-decade war, as noted by the AP.

Currently, many Afghan-American women fear for the lives of the girls left to face the brutal consequences of the Taliban ruling. Two of the female protesters, who have family in Afghanistan, commented:

“Our girls. The girls who are under 20 don’t know what life is like under Taliban. Their lives are all destroyed. They’re all destroyed.”

Terrifyingly, at least seven people have been killed at Kabul International Airport on Monday, as residents tried to flee the country amid the Taliban takeover. The tragic incident raises fears in Afghan-Americans that their families might not be able to leave the country.

Another distressed woman said:

“I have immediate family that’s living in Afghanistan right now. They shut down the airport nobody can fly out – they’re stuck there.”

While the Taliban is taking over Afghanistan, the U.S. president “hides” from the public.

As per The Daily Wire, during Afghanistan’s complete collapse, President Joe Biden continued to hide from the American public. Demonstrators gathered in front of the White House expressed their outrage toward the president, with one woman saying:

“We’re all incredibly disappointed in President Biden and the administration for pulling out all the troops from Afghanistan literally overnight.”

Another protester commented: “That was not the only way out.”

A third added: “It’s all gone back. I feel like it was for nothing.”

Another man agreed: “It’s back to where it was in 1994.”

Meanwhile, some of the demonstrators are in fear for the future of Afghanistan.

One of the protesters said:

“You’re giving back the power to the people. The same type of people. Savages.

This is not just bad for Afghanistan. This is bad for the world. It’s bad for the neighboring countries. It’s bad for America.”

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani slipped out of his country on Sunday, claiming he was doing it to “avoid further bloodshed.” Shortly after, the Taliban have seized power in Afghanistan, pledging to enforce Islamic law.

The current location of Ghani is unclear.
