A Florida Sheriff warned rioters to stay away and said he’d deputize ‘every lawful gun owner’ to handle them
Sheriff Darryl Daniels of Clay County, Florida recently warned rioters thinking about vandalizing his area that he has zero tolerance for lawlessness, and if things get heated, he would deputize every lawful gun owner in his county to shield it from violence.
“Lawlessness, that’s unacceptable in this country,” Daniels said in a clip that was shared to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office’s official Facebook page. “Lawlessness, that’s unacceptable in Clay County, and if you threaten to come to Clay County and think that for one second that we’ll bend our backs for you, you’re sadly mistaken.”
“Tearing up Clay County, that’s not going to be acceptable,” the Sheriff later added.
Clay County, Florida Sheriff Darryl Daniels says he will deputize every gun owner in his county to put down violent protests his deputies can’t handle alone.

The three-minute video shows the Sheriff standing in front of 18 deputies as he describes the violent protesters as godless disruptors and warns them to stay out of Clay County.
And if we can’t handle you, you know what I’ll do? I will exercise the power and authority as the sheriff, and I will make special deputies of every lawful gun owner in this county and I’ll deputize them for this one purpose: to stand in the gap between lawlessness and civility.” he said.
“That’s what we’re sworn to do. That’s what we’re going to do. You’ve been warned.”
Daniels said his dept. has a “great relationship” with its residents, but “if you come to Clay County and think for 1 second we'll bend our backs for you, you're sadly mistaken.”

Daniels is a first-term sheriff hoping for reelection who plans to one day become a congressman.
He is being challenged by six people, including former Clay County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Management Director Ben Carroll, Atlantic Beach Police Chief Michelle Cook, a former FDLE agent, and Florida’s attorney’s investigator who has earned the endorsement of former Gov. Jeb Bush.
