6 reasons why life sucks

Life sucks.

No matter how many times we try to convince ourselves that life is wonderful, and we should enjoy it to the fullest, it still messes us up in the end.

At some point, most people realize that life really does suck. However, this realization is not easy to bear, so we prefer to fool ourselves that eventually, things will get better. Maybe they will for some, but in general, things don’t always get better. We are the ones who need improvement.

Life is pretty awful for many reasons. Here are 6 of them.

1. You can’t have everything you want.

Having everything you want doesn’t mean possessing a lot of expensive stuff, driving fast cars, and owning a mansion. It’s about finding the perfect balance between family, friends, love, personal space, work, happiness, money, etc. Sure, you can achieve any of those things successfully, but only if you set them as your top priority.

That’s where you realize that life sucks. You can have only one top priority. The rest will inevitably be ignored at some point. You are constantly standing between difficult choices and decisions that sometimes, instead of guiding you, make your life unbearably complicated.

2. Justice is real only in movies and comic books.

We all dream of a world where good deeds always repay, and bad people get what they deserve. Especially when we’re young and watch all of these movies where the main character is powerful, smart, good, and with a strong sense of justice. They just beat up the villains, and the world peace is easily restored.

In reality, bad things happen to good people, and dishonest people prosper and live happily ever after. If you are like me, chances are you can’t stand seeing injustice all around. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what life is full of.

Having high morals turns out to be complete nonsense because in general, justice is something people invented. The universe has no idea what that is, so we shouldn’t expect people to be genuine and honest. It’s just not how it works.

3. Chaos is everywhere.

People often say that what goes around comes around. The common conception is that if we do good, it will eventually come back to us. That’s why we’re constantly looking for order in everything we do. We are used to playing and living by certain rules. Well, apparently life has other plans.

Life is full of chaotic and unreasonable situations, things, people, circumstances. One minute you can have it all and be utterly happy and the next, your whole world could be shattered. It’s all one big disorganized ugly mess. And we have no choice but deal with it because most of this mess is unfortunately out of our control.

4. There are no second chances.

No one will ever truly give you a second chance. Sure, you might retake an exam, or reapply for that awesome job position, but it would never be the same as the first time. For instance, if you fail at a relationship, your partner could agree to take you back. However, their feelings will never be as strong as they were before, and they will constantly question your intentions.

So indeed, there are no second chances. Then why should we learn from our mistakes, if we can’t really fix the past? Well, we can’t fix the past, but we can improve our future. As long as there is a future ahead of us, we should constantly try to be better people, so life doesn’t always suck that much.

5. You don’t always love what you do.

Most of the people work in a place they hate, with colleagues they can’t stand. Some say: “Love what you do, and do what you love”, but in most cases, this doesn’t pay the bills and bring food on the table. Chances are you’re going to be stuck in a job you’re sick of for the rest of your life.

If we look at the bigger picture, our workplace is where we spend most of our time. This means that most of us are doomed to be unsatisfied and bitter for the majority of their lives. Do you still believe that life doesn’t suck?

6. Life is too damn short.

We dream big, we’re curious, we want to visit so many places, meet so many people, and for what? One whole life is just not enough.

Similar to most of the kids, when you were little, you wanted to do so many things with your life. You wanted to become an astronaut, a policeman, a ballerina, a rock star. You wished for all the magic this world can offer you. But as you grow up, you realize that you can’t be all of these things in just one lifetime.

No matter how much you’ve achieved, you always wish to do and be more. People say: “Follow your dreams.” Okay, but how to follow all of them, when they require so much time and effort, that’s just impossible to be done by one simple human being?

Besides, you never have enough time with the people you love. Whenever we lose someone, there is always the regret of not spending enough quality time with them.

That’s why life sucks.

It ends unexpectedly soon, and most of the time, before you were able to say a simple goodbye.

Don’t get this wrong. Life can be amazing too. But like it or not, it mostly sucks. It leaves us wondering what’s the point of trying so hard to be a good person when everyone else is so unfair.

On the other hand, there is always hope. Some people prove that things really do get better. Hopefully, you will be one of those people who love their lives and live them to the fullest.
