13 Reminders That Will Help You In Tough Times

toughtimes
There are rough times in every person’s life. Everyone has problems of their own but some people seem to handle their problems better than others. Different individuals react differently to stressful situations. Some tend to freak out when something bad happens while others have stronger nerves and manage to stay calm. Attitude plays the biggest role when it comes to managing the rough moments in life. If you want to learn more, here are 13 ways to become happy again.
1. Mahatma Gandhi says: “If you want to change the world, start with yourself.” These are some true words of wisdom. Remind yourself of that when you are feeling down with how your life is unfolding. When you feel unsatisfied with the world around you, just remember that you are a part of this world and if you wish it to be different, you will need to change something about yourself first. After all what we see in the world is a reflection of ourselves. And if you are stressed, chaotic and sad, you’ll see the world the way you are. Be the change.
2. Refusing to accept the difficult situation you are in and not trying to change it will only make you more miserable. Hard times are a part of life. The sooner you understand and accept that, the easier you will get through the confusion and stress that often occur when we are experiencing something bad. If you continuously worry about the situation, the negative thoughts will continue to haunt you.

3. Just because you want something so bad, doesn’t mean that it is best for you. Sometimes we won’t get the things we want the most and most of the times that turns out to be a good thing. The way your life unfolds will sometimes surprise you. Everything happens as it is supposed to happen and being rejected for something often times means that the Universe has something better for you. Have a little faith and everything will be alright.
4. Your approach to life is everything. Many of us tend to create problems in our minds that don’t really exist. When you are going through a difficult time, think of how this affects you and whether the situation is really as bad as you think. When you train yourself to ask these questions, you may realize that the way we look at things matters the most. If you trick yourself into thinking that a normal situation is actually a big problem, you open your body to the negative emotions, but if you really happen to be in a bad time of your life and accept and honor it as a an opportunity to learn and grow, you will no longer see it as a problem.
5. Live the moment. Appreciate each moment just as it is because you will never have it back. Experience everything, don’t just absently go through everyday activities. Experience the fresh mornings, the smell of your morning coffee, the cozy feeling of watching the rain pour, express your emotions, show your love, smell the books you read, feel the sun on your skin. Appreciate every little thing of your life because one day you’re going to look back and realize that the little things we actually not that small and insignificant.
6. Focus on the positive aspects of your life and make time for things that you love doing. There are people who are so obsessed with the hardships they are experiencing that they don’t allow themselves to relax for a bit and have fun. They may even have forgotten how to be happy. That way of thinking can cause some serious harms to your health and your soul. So try giving yourself these moments of peace and joy as often as you possibly can. Your soul will be thankful for that.
7. Acknowledge that the only thing that is standing in your way is… yourself. Realize that you are only a victim of your own thoughts, actions and emotions. Stop blaming anyone for the situation you are currently in. Take your life in your hands and learn that if you wont to start fresh and change your life, you should first change your thought, habits and mindset.

8. Recognize your fears. That is the first step to overcoming them. Exploring your fears helps you face them because you will already know what exactly you have to be cautious about (be it your mindset, your body language, emotions). Overcoming fears is not an easy job and often times it takes practice to master them. One of the top three fears people have is the fear of speaking in public. If you look at the situation (speaking in front of public) clearly, you will see that the viewers aren’t scary, it is just that the person who is speaking has a different vision in his head about them and about themself, too. It’s important to remind yourself that fear is forged inside your mind and it’s not impossible to beat it.
9. Failing is a way to learn. If nobody ever failed, the world wouldn’t be the way it is right now. Some people learn best through failure. We should stop viewing failure as a bad thing because it does not mean that we are unsuccessful when we fail. It means that we are still searching for ways to reach our success. The path to it isn’t easy and by overcoming the obstacles, we learn new skills and see which ways don’t work and which-do.
10. Be grateful for what you already have. Don’t concentrate your attention on what you don’t have because you will never have everything. Train yourself to express gratitude every day and you will soon realize that what you have already is enough and you will feel at peace with yourself.
11. If you are feeling sad, just know that this is not going to last forever. Nothing does. This too shall pass. When you feel stuck, think of that as a normal phase that every person goes through. Evaluate your situation, experience it, don’t fight it too much. It is better to express your feelings, even the sad ones, rather than to suppress them. In that way, when you are done being sad, you will see the world with a clearer vision.

12. Don’t let jealousy make you a bitter person. It is human to feel a little jealous at someone from time to time, but some people tend to get so obsessed with other people’s lives that they start acting grumpy and mad because of their jealousy. When you feel that a jealousy feeling is arising in you, don’t hate yourself. Just try to acknowledge that feeling and explore it. Ask yourself what triggered your jealousy and when you find the answer, focus on how you can improve yourself in order to get that thing you are jealous about. For example, if you are jealous of your friend who has learned 2 languages, is successful at their job and travels the world, then that means that you should work harder and dedicate yourself to the activities that will help you achieve these goals.
