If you haven’t heard of the Milk Crate Challenge, then you have probably been practicing digital detox, because there is almost no chance it hasn’t appeared on your social media feed.
The challenge went viral in less than two weeks, having people from all walks of life climbing towers of plastic milk crates.

As 9GAG explains, to complete the quest, people need to climb up the crates and climb down without falling down. Even though it sounds simple, it appears to be an incredibly difficult task because of the wobbliness of the crates.
Allegedly, the challenge was first showcased on Facebook at the beginning of August.
However, even after seeing way more failures than successes from others joining the trend, folks are still trying to prove they can do it better.
And, unfortunately, many of them end up hospitalized with severe injuries after falling down from the milk crate towers.

Speaking to TODAY, Dr. Shawn Anthony, an orthopedic surgeon in New York, commented:
“Emergency rooms across the country are already overcrowded and elective surgeries are being delayed or postponed due to lack of hospital beds. This social medial challenge puts unnecessary additional stress on our health system and health care providers.”

Meanwhile, the Baltimore City Health Department urged people not to do follow the dangerous trend for the very same reason.
With COVID-19 hospitalizations rising around the country, please check with your local hospital to see if they have a bed available for you, before attempting the #milkcratechallenge. 🤕🏥 https://t.co/wsVliFp5bg
