Meet Magnolia: 2020 Gerber Baby Is First Adopted Baby Chosen For Annual Campaign

2020’s Gerber baby proves that love is the most key part of creating a strong family.

Magnolia Earl, who had her birthday recently, made history after she was announced as the new Gerber Baby, a tradition dating back to 1928.

According to the company, Magnolia is the first Gerber child who was adopted and the newest addition to a group of extraordinary “spokesbabies” in the last few years. She climbs the throne after the first baby with Down syndrome and the first one of Hmong origin.

Her parents, Courtney and Russel, as well as their other daughters, Charlotte, 8, and Whitney, 12, were all present for the great reveal.

Momma Courtney said:

“This is incredible”

It means that when people see our families, or if you see a family that doesn’t necessarily match, that you don’t have to question the belonging of anybody in that family.

Mommy always says a family is built on love,” Russel said. “We may all look different, but we’re one family.”

The family took Magnolia home one year ago after a six-month waiting period. They had previously adopted little Charlotte.

Courtney said they still keep in touch with Magnolia’s real parents.

“We celebrate adoption in our family every single day,” she said. “The real hero in this story are Magnolia’s birth parents. They chose her life, and they sent her on this incredible journey.”

Courtney said she notified Magnolia’s biological parents after she was chosen to be a Gerber finalist.

“If you could hear the joy in their voice of how proud they are of this little girl,” a tearful Courtney said. “Together with them and our community and our family, we all this love this baby girl so much.”

“She brings so much joy and happiness to everybody,” proud father Russel added.

Original Gerber baby, Ann Turner Cook, who is now 93-years-old, is still loved and appreciated by the company. Ann even met 2018 winner Lucas Warren in person.

Magnolia’s win coincides with the 10th anniversary of the annual Garber Photo Search, which was inspired by all the pictures sent by families who wish to see their child in the iconic Gerber logo.

“At Gerber, we have always recognized that every baby is a Gerber baby,” the company told TODAY. “In the 10 years we have hosted Photo Search, we have been proud to feature babies of diverse backgrounds. This year is no exception by featuring Magnolia, our first adopted Gerber Spokesbaby.”

Little Magnolia will be seen on the company’s social media pages and marketing campaigns for the year to come.

In addition, the Russel Family won a $25,000 cash prize and will also receive $1000 from Gerber Childswear, $1000 from Walmart, and mobile phones with a free year of unlimited service from Verizon.
