A kind man named Rob Adamson was praised for making a raft to help save a swan mother and her eggs.
Reports say he noticed that water levels were rising in St Ives, Cambridgeshire, and as a person who has looked after the swan for the last decade, he knew he had to intervene. Also, the swan’s eggs have previously been destroyed by wild animals and floods.
“She is the unluckiest swan,” Rob said. “I needed to make sure they survived.”
The kind-spirited man lives and works at Jones Boatyard so as soon as he saw the waters making their way to the nest, he crafted a handmade raft that turned out to be a perfect fit for momma swan and her eggs.
Rob went on to explain:
“You’re not supposed to interfere, but it had got to the point where they were all going to die. I couldn’t go to bed knowing that. I knew I would regret it if I didn’t do anything to save them. The dad was watching ,too, but neither of them attacked me. I think they knew it was their best chance.”
Thankfully, his labor paid off as each one of the eight eggs eventually hatched.
“I have been pacing around the marina like an expectant dad for the last week,” he said.
Needless to say, people on the web applauded Rob for what he did.
“When I saw them start to hatch I was so happy, I was bouncing around like a kid at Christmas. It’s like winning the lottery,” Rob added.
