Man, 31, invites ailing neighbor, 89, to move in with him so she doesn’t spend her last days alone
A kindhearted man invited his 89-year-old neighbor to move with him so she doesn’t spend the last years of her life alone.
Chris Salvatore, a 31-year-old actor, moved in across the hall from Norma Cook, an 85-year-old woman, and her cat, Hermes in 2013. As per Newsner, the neighbors always said hello to each other and eventually became friends.
The two became so close that Chris eventually decided to invite Norma to live with him as she was in need of constant care.

A few years later, when Norma turned 89, her health began deteriorating. Following a visit to the hospital, doctors said she could return home only if there was someone to take care of her 24/7. Sadly, without any children or family nearby, she couldn’t rely on her relatives.
Thankfully, her best friend Chris was by her side. He even set up a GoFundMe page to help her cover medical costs. But, eventually, he realized he had to do something more for his beloved neighbor.

Speaking to Today, the actor said:
“She couldn’t be happier that I asked. I was over there visiting most days anyway.
The only other option was for her to go into a facility. I just couldn’t do that to someone who is like my own grandmother.”
After inviting Norma and her cat Hermes to move in with him, they became inseparable.

Chris commented:
“I’m so happy I was able to give her this gift of living her last days at home. I can’t imagine what it’s like to go through the end of your life at a hospital without your friends or pets.”
At the time, Norma said:
“We always watch the news. We mostly talk and drink Champagne and eat peanuts.”

Unfortunately, Ms. Cook passed away on February 15, 2017. In her memory, Chris shared a heartbreaking Instagram post, saying:
“It’s with a heavy heart that I share the news that earlier this morning the world lost a truly inspiring, beautiful woman. Norma is now resting peacefully in the eternal and while she may no longer physically be with us, her spirit will continue to fill the hearts of so many people…
May you rest in peace my sweet sweet lady, Norma. ❤️“
