Life is too short to settle for shitty coffee, shitty friends, and shitty relationships

There are things in life that deserve going the extra mile for.

Being too chill and acting like you don’t care might be trendy, but it’s definitely not cool.

What should be considered cool is working extra hard for the things that are worth it.

Of course, going with the flow works in some areas. Accepting the circumstances you cannot change is a mindset we should all adopt. However, some things in life need that little extra effort. There is no place for mediocrity when it comes to the things that move you. Having standards and living up to them is much more beneficial to your life than acting like you just don’t care.

The truth is, some people will make you feel bad for going after what makes you happy.

They will call you ‘selfish’ for prioritizing your own wellbeing and ‘spoiled’ for demanding the things you actually deserve. They will even consider you narcissistic for refusing to settle for anything less than you are worthy of.

But these people do not define who you are. You decide that. And if you decide to take proper care of yourself and ditch the chill yet boring attitude, you might be on the right path.

The ones who find your passion for life too intimidating probably have no place in your circle. If your willingness to take a step further into what you believe is important scares people away, just let them go. And if fighting for what you deserve is labeled ‘demanding’, then don’t hesitate to keep demanding.

Life is way too short for not doing the things that move you. You may not realize this, but there is no time for hesitation. There is no time for listening to the people who undermine your devotion. You shouldn’t waste another second for those who are eagerly trying to convince you that not caring makes you cool. It doesn’t make you cool, it makes you unreasonable.

After all, life should be filled with things that make you shine and people you truly adore. You shouldn’t feel bad for stating what you want and what you believe in.

What you should be chill about is what other people say and think of you. You should definitely not care about their opinion, as it brings no significant value to your life. Their perception of you shouldn’t affect you at all, as it’s something you have no control over. So, being cool with their actions and not taking their words into consideration is definitely the move you should take in such situations.

Meanwhile, you should absolutely care about what you settle for. You have full control over what and whom you allow into your life. It is entirely up to you whether you’re going to fight for what you are undoubtedly entitled to.

So, if you want brown instead of regular sugar in your matcha latte, don’t be afraid to ask for it. After all, you just paid a sick amount of money for a single coffee, so you might as well have it the way you like it.

Moreover, if you’re sick of your friends using you for giving them free rides, tell them. If you disapprove of the way your partner treats you, be sure to make that clear. Some things in life are way too important to act as if you don’t care. Therefore, if you’re not okay with something, be vocal about it instead of bottling your emotions and thoughts about it just to seem cool in the eyes of others.

Remember this: You don’t owe anyone an explanation of the way you handle your own life.

Once you realize this, you will finally be free to take that little extra effort without feeling bad for not meeting someone else’s expectations.

Add a pinch of cinnamon to your tea. Buy that pair of shoes you’re dreaming of ever since you saw them in the mall. Ask for that discount they promised you but never mentioned again. Tell your significant other they’re being a jerk lately.

Go the extra mile for yourself. Because do you want to know who’s going to give you everything you deserve? Yourself!
