Grandma, 34, reveals she and her daughter, 18, are often mistaken for sisters

Mother and daughter welcomed babies together, which has “brought them closer than ever.”

Last year Clare Milner, 34, welcomed her youngest son Hunter. Within just a few months, her oldest daughter, Elisse, 18, fell pregnant with her son Lucas. Having the amazing opportunity to raise their babies together, the mother-daughter due have never felt so close to one another.

Interestingly, the young grandma shares strangers often assume she is actually Elisse’s sister, especially when they are out and about with the babies. Speaking to Daily Mail, Clare said:

“Becoming a mum again at a similar time to my daughter has brought us closer together than we have ever been before.”

The 34-year-old granny revealed she is no longer in a relationship with Hunter’s father because his behavior drastically changed when she told him she was pregnant. Instead of chasing after him, she decided to raise her baby on her own. With the help of Elisse, of course.

Clare explained:

“I decided to leave the relationship and go it alone, for my own sake and the children’s sake. I have three elder children, Elisse, 18, Makenzie, 16, and Macauley, 13.”

She added:

“There is an 11 year age gap between Hunter and Macauley so I was worried that he would have no one to grow up and play with.

Shortly after I had Hunter, Elisse told me she was pregnant. It was strange at first and came as such a shock because she had always said she didn’t want kids but after the news settled in I thought it would be so nice for Hunter to have someone close in age to grow and play with.”

As Clare was a teen mom herself, she was happy to guide her daughter through the challenges of motherhood.

Meanwhile, just like people in the past used to mock her for being too young to be a mom, strangers are now baffled at Clare being a grandmother at just 34. She noted:

“I’ve received funny comments all my life since being a young mum, as I had Elisse when I was 16. People would tell me I was too young to be a mum and then when my daughter fell pregnant people were saying I’m too young to be a grandmother.”

The mom-of-four continued:

“If Elisse and I are out together with Hunter and Lucas, they assume we are sisters rather than mother and daughter. Or people assume that both of the boys are my kids when in fact, one is my son and the other is my grandson.

People are always questioning why I wanted to start again and have another baby with an 11 year age gap with my other grown-up kids. But it is great fun having a son and a grandson so close in age. They will have a lovely bond and be able to grow up together. I think they’ll have more of a brotherly bond which I am excited to watch develop as they get older.”

The two moms are now enjoying spending quality time together. Meanwhile, Hunter and Lucas are becoming best friends.

Clare said:

“We just have a great time together and I can’t wait to see what it will be like as they start to get older. I love being a young gran and having a young child myself because it means we do more things together than we ever have.

And it means I am still fit and healthy to run about after the kids and look after them. I will also get to be in his life for a lot longer than if I was an older grandmother. I can’t wait to see what they will be like when they grow up, they’re going to have such a close and beautiful bond.”

What’s even more important, the granny shares she “wouldn’t have it any other way.”
