Female Afghani Governor Captured By Taliban, Execution Likely To Follow

A female Afghan governor named Salima Mazari was captured by the Taliban.

Ever since the terrorist group gained control of Afghanistan, Taliban leaders have said that women’s rights will only go as far as the dictates of Sharia law.

Women and children have reportedly been beaten while trying to escape the terrorists, and one woman was killed for not wearing a burqa.

Mazari, one of the three women governors of Afghanistan, was detained by the group on August 18, local reports say.

During her time as Governor of the Hazara District in Chaharkint, Balkh, she has fought hard to shield the area from the Taliban.

And while around 600 people had joined in her cause, the terrorists quickly took over the region.

“In the provinces controlled by the Taliban, no women exist there anymore, not even in the cities. They are all imprisoned in their homes,” Mazari told the Associated Press. “Taliban are exactly the ones who trample human rights.”

“Our people didn’t have guns but they went and sold their cows, sheep, and even their land, to buy weapons. They are on the front line every day and night without getting any kind of credit or salary.”

Journalist Nadia Momand made a tweet saying:

“When many Afghan political leaders fled, Salima stayed to fight. As one of the first female district Governors in Afghanistan, she took on the Taliban & resisted until the end. She has reportedly been captured. Pressure to free her.”

Meanwhile, Zarifa Ghafari, the youngest mayor in the country, also expressed her fears of the Taliban coming for her life.

“I’m sitting here waiting for them to come. There is no one to help me or my family. I’m just sitting with them and my husband. And they will come for people like me and kill me,” Ghafari told i News.
