A boss accidentally turned herself into a potato during an online meeting and got roasted.

Lizet Ocampo was having an important online conference with her employees when she pressed something by mistake and turned her head into a potato. Apparently, her makeover was a result of a Snapchat filter. But that’s not the most hilarious part.

Lizet had no idea how to turn the filter off while speaking with her staff, so she stayed like that during the entire meeting. One of her employees shared the comical moment on Twitter.

Rach says that her boss turned herself into a potato during a Microsoft teams meeting, and didn’t know how to turn the setting off, so she was stuck like this until the end of the conference. Her post quickly went viral.

Luckily, Rach’s boss has a good sense of humor and didn’t take her post as an offense.

Furthermore, she added that the good news is, she won’t be fired for sharing her potato boss with the world.

Lizet Ocampo took the joke and even loved the role of The Potato Boss. She retweeted Rach’s post, adding a funny comment:

“I yam potato boss. You should see me in a crown, right @billieeilish? I yam glad this is making folks laugh at this time. Please stay planted at home and safe! For more needed laughs, follow my favorite comedian @cristela9. Potate out.”

The initial tweet already has almost 200,000 retweets and nearly a thousand likes. Some netizens were even curious about how to turn themselves into potatoes for their next online team call.

Rach kindly explained it was just a Snapchat potato filter for Microsoft calls, that her boss was unable to turn off during the conference call.

This guy saw a girl dancing on a rooftop and asked her out via drone. It worked!

This is a story of modern romance during a quarantine.

A Brookly photographer asked a girl living across the street on a date via drone and lots of creativity.

One day, the photographer Jeremy Cohen saw a cute girl across the street dancing on her rooftop. The mysterious woman was Tori Cignarella. She was freely dancing on the rooftop like no one was watching. Or at least that was what she thought.

Jeremy got impressed by Tori’s free spirit in these difficult times of self-isolation.

Luckily, he documented their whole romantic journey so the rest of the world could see it.

This is absolute proof that love has no limits, even during the quarantine.

The photographer immediately knew he had to meet the dancing girl, so he got an idea. He sent a drone over, writing his phone number on it. What an inventive way to start a relationship!

Fortunately, Tori texted him back and they started chatting. Jeremy couldn’t believe his idea worked. Yet, exchanging numbers wasn’t enough for the photographer in love. He wanted to actually take Tori out on a real date.

But how could he take the girl out, when they’re supposed to follow the stay-at-home restrictions? Well, he thought that through too. Apparently, Jeremy is quite a creative guy. He asked Tori out to dinner, but she had one very important question: “How?”

Jeremy had a whole plan figured out. He set up a table for one on his balcony, and he asked Tori’s roommate to set a similar table for her on their rooftop.

Through Facetime, Jeremy and Tori had a lovely first date, eating their microwaved meals together, while still being across the street from each other.

They began a thrilling long-distance relationship, despite the fact they live in the same neighborhood.

Their “Quarantine Cutie” story continues with even a sweeter romantic gesture from Jeremy. As he badly wanted to see Tori in person, he came up with another innovative plan. Can you guess his next step?

To meet his quarantined sweetheart, Jeremy blew up a human-sized plastic bubble, got in it, sealed it up, and walked across the street to her apartment to surprise her.

He also bought her flowers like a real gentleman. Unfortunately, there was no way he could give her the flowers but it didn’t really matter. After that, the new couple enjoyed a walk in the neighborhood.

They even got stopped by the cops, but only because their story was already quite popular. The officers only wanted to take a picture with the unusual couple.

Thanks to Jeremy and Tori’s modern romance, now we have a lovely story to follow while we stay at home and wonder what to do. Let’s all hope that they will continue to be quarantine sweethearts even after the lockdown ends. Here’s their whole story Jeremy posted on Twitter.

UK citizens warned to prepare for blackouts as energy firms battle to keep the power on during coronavirus crisis

UK residents have been warned of potential blackouts during the coronavirus crisis.

It is believed that staff shortages may lead to issues with the country’s power network.

The government self-isolation restrictions and staff sickness during the outbreak have been reportedly raising concerns of a possible shortage of engineers. On the contrary, the National Grid insists that the network is going to handle the shortages. Besides, industry chiefs are baching it up, describing it as ‘one of the most reliable networks in the world’.

The fear comes as UK Power Networks has written to some of its most vulnerable customers warning them to keep torches and warm clothes nearby in case of power cuts.

The distribution network operator owns and maintains the electricity cables in the South East and East of England, as well as London. They have written to their priority customers, including pensioners and families with young children, advising them on what to do if there is a power cut in their households.

According to The Daily Telegraph, the instructions include ‘keeping a torch handy’ and ‘reducing heat loss by closing doors on unused rooms’. Moreover, people are advised to have a hat, gloves and a blanket to hand to keep warm’. Having a power bank for recharging their phones would also be a necessity.

A UK Power Networks’ spokesperson states:

“We regularly contact customers on our Priority Services Register, to ensure we meet their needs and it’s never more important than in the current circumstances. This is to ensure we continue to provide them with the best possible support. We are continuing to fix power cuts and maintain the electricity network to ensure its continued reliability. Across our networks, power supplies are 99.9% reliable, and our dedicated teams are keeping the power flowing.”

The electrical infrastructure firm’s customers were warned for blackouts as many other electricity firms across the UK put non-essential infrastructure work on hold during the quarantine.

Other emergency strategies have also been implemented to deal with the consequences of the pandemic.

By March 31, 22,141 people have been infected and 1,408 people have died by the coronavirus in the UK.

Reportedly, other electricity distributors are also contacting their most vulnerable customers. Moreover, they have been ensuring that their staff is able to continue working on essential projects while still following the government’s social distancing restrictions.

On the other hand, SP Energy Networks’s CEO admits that staff sickness was a particular concern at his firm operating in parts of Scotland, the North West and North Wales.

Other industry chiefs have supported the UK power network, claiming it is one of the most reliable electricity networks worldwide. One of them is the chief executive of Energy Networks Association, David Smith, who says:

“It is supported by stringent contingency plans and a workforce of 36,000 people. We’re keeping your energy flowing during the coronavirus pandemic and the network is operating exactly as it should.”

$11,000 fine and six months jail time for anyone leaving home without a "reasonable excuse"

People living in New South Wales, Australia, could face prison up to six months and an $11,000 fine if they leave their homes without a “reasonable excuse”.

Recently, the NSW Public Health came up with new restrictions. They made it illegal for residents to leave their homes, except “to obtain food or other goods and services”. Other acceptable reasons are work and education that cannot be done from home, exercise, medical or caring reasons, and a limited number of other reasons.

Moreover, gatherings of more than two people are seized, unless those people are members of the same household. The restrictions are reportedly designed to limit the spread of coronavirus in the country.

In case people don’t follow the strict limitations, they can be fined up to $11,000, or sent to prison for a period of six months. In some cases, the disobedient individuals may face both. Furthermore, they can be fined extra $5,500 for each day the offense continues.

For associations and companies that fail to obey, the initial fine is $55,000, and for each day the offense continues the additional fine is $27,500.

The allowed “excuses” in the new order are 16. They include attending weddings and funerals, limited to five and ten people respectively. Besides, moving house, donating blood, undertaking legal obligations and accessing public services such as Centrelink and domestic violence services are also among the reasonable excuses.

Another allowed act is the contact between parents and children or siblings, who do not live together. Likewise, priests and other ministers will still be allowed to go to their place of worship or provide pastoral care.

The new order, signed by NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard on March 30, states:

“Taking a holiday in a regional area is not a reasonable excuse.”

The advice of the national cabinet set down by Prime Minister Scott Morrison must be executed by each Australian state. NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian indicated that her government would enforce the recommendations strongly. She declares:

“I also want to remind everybody that you shouldn’t be leaving home unless it is for work, for school, for essential things that you need to buy or else if you need to seek medical attention or exercise. They are the only reasons you should leave home.”

Additionally, Berejiklian pleads, in case people can work or study from home, they should. She is clear that people can leave their homes only in exceptional circumstances.

New South Wales is the Australian area with the most coronavirus cases.

The new regime came as they recorded the 2000th confirmed case.

By March 31, the total COVID-19 patients in NSW are 2,032, with 8 deaths. Medical experts are warning that it’s still too early to tell if the strict social distancing measures are working.

Police Commissioner Michael Fuller has been placed in charge of the state’s overall COVID-19 response. In a letter to his colleagues, he states:

“This decision has been made to affect the level of authority vested in the NSWPF Commissioner and to increase public confidence in government support to the NSW Health operation. NSW Health continues to control the health response to this emergency, however it has become clear there is a greater need for whole-of-government co-ordination in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, beyond consequence management alone.”

What makes the connection between humans and dogs so special? Science says love!

What makes the bond between humans and dogs so exceptional?

Can our pets experience love as we do?

Once, psychologists denied the idea that animals can feel the way humans do, but now the tables may have turned. Here’s why.

A new book from the author Clive Wynne, founder of the Canine Science Collaboratory at Arizona State University, argues that the relationship between a dog and a human being is one of the most significant interspecies partnerships in history.

A post shared by Liam Hemsworth (@liamhemsworth) on

The author of the book “Dog is Love: Why and How Your Dog Loves You.” began his studies on the subject in the early 2000s. Similar to his peers, he believed that ascribing complex emotions to dogs is not quite rational. However, his mind has completely changed by a piece of body evidence that he simply couldn’t ignore. According to Phys.org, Wynne says in an interview:

“I think there comes a point when it’s worth being skeptical of your skepticism.”

In the past two decades, canine science has been enjoying a revival of the idea about dogs’ intelligence.

Many titles, such as “The Genius of Dogs” by Brian Hare, have firmly supported the belief that dogs are, in fact, incredibly alert and perceptive. On the contrary, Wynne argues that it’s not brilliance what makes canines so special. It’s love.

The canine psychologist states that unlike dolphins’ understanding of grammar, or wolves’ ability to follow human cues, dogs haven’t shown significant abilities defining their intelligence. He proposes that it’s dogs’ “hyper-sociability” or “extreme gregariousness” that makes them exceptional. In other words, their love for us humans is what makes them so compassionate.

Additionally, scientists have proved that oxytocin, a brain chemical that seals emotional bonds between people, is also responsible for interspecies relationships between dogs and humans. The thesis clarifies in a recent study by Takefumi Kikusui at Japan’s Azabu University. Kikusui’s research shows that when humans and their dogs gaze into each other’s eyes, their oxytocin levels rise, similar to the effect observed between mothers and their babies.

In 2009, UCLA geneticist Bridgett vonHoldt made a surprising discovery.

She found that dogs have a mutation in the gene, responsible for Williams syndrome in humans.

The Williams syndrome is a condition characterized by developmental challenges and a markedly outgoing personality. Wynne explains:

“The essential thing about dogs, as for people with Williams syndrome, is a desire to form close connections, to have warm personal relationships—to love and be loved.”

Furthermore, behavior testing is one of the most certain approaches that give insight into dogs’ real nature. For example, in a test, researchers were using a rope to pull open the front door of a canine’s home and placing a bowl of food at an equal distance to its owner. What this test showed, is that the animal’s initial instinct is to go to their human first.

Moreover, magnetic resonance imaging has shown that the brain of a dog responds to praise as much, or even more than food.

This proves that our puppers love us more than they love food. How incredible is that?! However, such affection requires early life nurturing to take effect.

Clive Wynne claims that the future of canine science is in studying genetics, which will help unravel new discoveries about the process of domestication. He is a firm believer in the trash heap theory. The theory states that ancient dogs gathered around human dumping grounds. In the meantime, they slowly ingratiated themselves with people. This way, they established an interspecies partnership through joint hunting expeditions.

Withal, science will also help researchers to discover the exact time when the crucial mutation to the gene that controls Williams syndrome occurred. According to Wynne, this happened 8,000 – 10,000 years ago, when humans began regularly hunting alongside dogs. The author argues that these findings are significant because of their implications for dogs’ welfare.

Wynne believes that dogs love their humans, just like people love one another.

He shares:

“Our dogs give us so much, and in return they don’t ask for much. You don’t need to be buying all these fancy expensive toys and treats and goodness knows what that are available.
They just need our company, they need to be with people.”

Rubbish bins overflow with discarded food due to coronavirus panic shopping

Loaves of bread, unopened packs of meat, and fruits and vegetables have been carelessly dumped after the coronavirus panic shopping.

Panicked shoppers have been recently discarding the fresh food they have been buying during the first days of the pandemic. In a Twitter post, Ajit Singh Atwal shares photos showing rubbish bins in Derby overflowing with out-of-date food.

Mr. Atwal, a former Liberal Democrat Councillor, shares:

“To all the people in this great city of ours in Derby, if you have gone out & panic bought like a lot of you have and stacked up your houses with unnecessary items you don’t normally buy or you have bought in more food than you need, then you need to take a good look at yourself.”

The post quickly went viral as many people were furious, calling out the behavior of the stockpilers.

Additionally, similar scenes were reported across the country, including Frankby, Merseyside. Many netizens are certain that something needs to be done against throwing such great amounts of food.

This horrific trend comes as Britons are told to only leave the house once a day. Shopping is allowed only for essentials. What’s more, supermarkets are offering elderly customers priority time slots. They are also cutting down the number of people who can shop in the store at the same time.

All the assurances from the UK government and the industry, that there is still plenty of food and supplies for everyone didn’t stop panicked people from over-shopping at the beginning of the pandemic.

According to Mail Online, during the last half a month, Britons have stockpiled food worth £1billion, as a result of panic buying.

To avoid further complications, Tesco’s CEO, Dave Lewis, is encouraging people to free-up delivery slots for online orders to the elderly and vulnerable, and to go to stores instead.

However, this means that queues outside the supermarkets will continue to elongate, as shoppers are obligated to keep distance while waiting to enter the stores. Lewis wrote in a letter to his customers:

“Our social distancing plans aim to protect customers from the moment they enter our car parks, to browsing products, to paying and finally exiting our stores.”

Stephen Powis, the NHS England national medical director, accused panic buyers of depriving healthcare staff of the food supplies they need, saying: “Frankly we should all be ashamed.”

Plenty of people agree with the director’s position on the subject.

The online supermarket Ocado has been working at full capacity throughout the crisis.

Currently, online orders have been limited to one per week, per person, with some items been limited to only two per customer.

The chief executive, Lord Stuart Rose, pleads customers to shop rationally, revealing the shocking £1billion worth of wasted food over the past fortnight.

Rose himself has self-isolated after suspecting he had contracted the virus. He genuinely calls on people in the country to ‘make your meals work’.

“You can make a relatively small amount of food go a long way and I think we live in a very profligate society today – we buy too much, we eat too much, we consume too much and we have to learn new ways.”

Similar to Tesco’s CEO, Sainsbury’s chief executive Mike Coupe wrote a letter to his customers. There, he explains that the number of people in stores and at ATMs at any one time will be limited. He adds that queuing systems will be put in place outside stores. Furthermore, people are urged to arrive at the stores throughout the day, to avoid long queues forming in the morning. Moreover, he encourages people to pay by card, to limit physical contact. Coupe continues:

“We will be reminding people in stores to keep a safe distance from other customers and from our colleagues.”

Additionally, Sainsbury’s chief executive admits that many customers have reported that they are struggling to book online delivery slots. To these reports, he answers:

“We are doing our absolute best to offer online delivery slots to elderly, disabled and vulnerable customers. These customers have priority over all slots. Our customer Careline has been inundated with requests from elderly and vulnerable customers – we have had one year’s worth of contacts in two weeks. We have proactively contacted 270,000 customers who had already given us information that meant we could identify them as being in these groups.”

By March 30, the total coronavirus cases are 19,522, with 1,228 deaths.

A senior government adviser suggests that the figures would continue to rise for at least the next three weeks. This means the pandemic is likely to hit its peak at Easter. The adviser says that the UK hospitals should be able to handle the situation, but admits they can’t guarantee it. He adds:

“I expect death numbers to increase over two, three or four weeks, and then to gradually decrease.”
