A cat’s life was saved by college football fans with the US national flag.
Last weekend, Miami Hurricanes played against Appalachian State at the Hard Rock Stadium, and while the fans were focused on the game, a cat found itself in a risky situation on the upper deck railing.
Eventually, people noticed that the cat was trapped up there and even ended up hanging in the air, holding on with its paws.
In a video shared on social media, it seems that one of its paws was caught on a wire. As most fans went into panic mode, down below, a group of people was ready to catch the animal with a stars and stripes flag. And that’s exactly what happened.

Craig Cromer, a facilities manager at the University of Miami who carries his flag to every game, told ESPN:
“People were trying to grab it from above and they couldn’t reach it but they were scaring it downward… it hung there for a little while with its two front paws, then one paw, then I was like… oh my goodness, it’s coming soon.”

Thankfully, the cat was unharmed.
In a statement, the stadium said:
“We are happy that due to the heads up nature of fans in sections 107, 110 and 208 the cat landed safely after a harrowing fall. We wish the cat the best in his remaining eight lives.”
They also added that they made a donation to Miami’s Humane Society after that.
Regarding the incident, Miami coach Manny Diaz said:
“I don’t know anything about that or what was going on. But I’ll tell you, if the cat will help us in our red-zone offence, I’m going to see if we can give it a scholarship,” he said.
