Biden Administration Diverts $2 Billion From COVID-19, Health Spending To Care For Migrant Kids
U.S. President Joe Biden has cut more than $2 billion from programs authorized by Congress in connection to coronavirus testing and is spending it on shelter for the 45,000 unaccompanied migrant kids that have flooded the U.S-Mexico border instead.
The Department of Health and Human Services took $850 million out of money that was supposed to go for testing in Biden’s enormous $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief bill, as per Politico.

In addition, Secretary Xavier Becerra took $850 million more out of a fund that was supposed to replenish the Strategic National Stockpile of things like medical gloves, masks, medicine and ventilators, and took $436 million more out of other health programs, according to Mark Weber, HHS.
A total of $2.13 billion have been allocated for migrant shelters at the border, where children have been placed into prison-like “pods” for social distancing purposes.
The news came shortly after Becerra spoke before a congressional committee to ask for another $905 million to be poured into the Covid-depleted stockpile.

The recent events had Republicans — who have put the blame on the border crisis on the current president’s executive orders rolling back Trump’s strict immigration policies — deeply angered.
Representative Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY) told New York Post:
“The President single-handedly created this crisis and is now misplacing billions in taxpayers’ money.”
“The answer to every problem is not to throw money at it. In this case, it’s simply rescinding his executive order, reinstating President Trump’s border protocols, and going after the cartels and smugglers,” Malliotakis added.

Recently, a Texas nonprofit organization was able to win two HHS no-bid contracts which come at a total of $620 to provide “emergency intake” services for unaccompanied migrant kids shortly after hiring a former Biden aide.
