Incredible photos captured the moment people fled for their lives after six bears decided to attack their rescuers while being released back into the wilderness of Iraq, Reuters reported.
The Syrian brown bears that were rescued from captivity were being released during a wildlife conservation initiative in the Kurdistan area of northern Iraq.
But shortly after the animals were released from their cages, they started attacking the crowd of bystanders and media personnel as the event took a chaotic turn.
The bears were put in steel cages and were surrounded by many people, among which were also armed officers.
But as soon as they were released, they decided to make an attack on the people who saved them.
Blend Prevkani, the head of the organization, said the bears were brought from different places around the country.
The rescue team told Shafaq News:
“Some of them were bought, while the others were given to us by their owners.”
This was the third time the organization released bears into the wilderness in recent years.
