Fed up mother arrested for confronting her son’s bullies after entering their school

A mom from South Carolina was arrested after entering her son’s elementary school to confront the kids she says had been bullying her son.

Reportedly, Jamie Rathburn had contacted a Greenbrier Elementary School teacher in December after her son was made fun of by another kid.

She was arrested on May 20. In December 2018, Rathburn had reportedly made contact with a teacher at her son’s school after a kid made fun of him.

Allegedly, the bullying went on to continue with her son being subjected to name-calling, being pulled off a slide by his neck, and being hit with a computer, according to Greenville News.

Reportedly, the concerned mother was fed up and decided to take things into her own hands. She even posted a Facebook video (now deleted), talking about her son’s abuse in school, according to a police report.

The report stated that Rathburn “snuck into the school and confronted kids that she estimated to be 9 years old.” on May 17.

Security footage allegedly showed her going to her boy’s classroom in the morning as the kids were lined up outside the classroom and, according to one witness, was “pointing her finger at the kids and getting in their faces.”

After a teacher brought Rathburn to a classroom, she cursed at him and stormed out of the room, he told authorities.

Just days later, Rathburn was arrested and is now no longer allowed on the premises, despite previously helping out with school events.

In an email to Yahoo! she apologized for her actions and that what she did was out of desperation to protect her son:

“I dont know when it’s time to protect [my] child’s mental health, but I think [doing something] now before something bad happens is better than five years from now when something bad has already happened.”

“I dont want my child committing suicide or shooting up a school because no one heard his cries,” she wrote.

Rathburn expressed her feelings for her son in a Facebook post dedicated to him:
